“A delightful break to our journey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

We arrived late to be greeted by Jim and Liz who were very warm, welcoming and sincere!! After a chat and settling into our room, Liz appeared with a pot of tea, with cakes, biscuits, real milk despite having more than adequate facilities in our room. The room was very large, beautifully presented and my son loved the Ben 10 bedding!! After a good sleep the breakfast was very tasty which set us up for the day. We felt very special staying in the Pitreavie and Liz and Jim are great hosts. We would definetly go back even if it was just for the friendly banter! Just to add to get this overall quality in Edinburgh you would be paying 2 or 3 times the price for the Pitreavie!

“The best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

I cannot thank Liz & Jim enough. I was spoiled from the moment I arrived until I departed.
The service was excellent while remaining friendly.
My room was perfect. The breakfast was scrumptious.
I'll definitely go back.

“Lovely people and a lovely place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

Only stayed for one night on 4th November 2010 while on a bit of a flying visit to Dunfermline. Promised that we would write a review and naturally forgot once back 'down south'. Apologies to Liz and Jim.
Anyway having now read the other reviews there is little more to say. We would just reiterate what the other reviewers have said and say that we could not recommend staying at The Pitreavie House any higher. As we said in the Title, "lovely people and a lovely place". By the way the breakfast was outstanding and they also offer extremely reasonably priced meals and snacks in the evening.

“Lovely!”

My parents and I recently stayed at the Pitreavie Guest House and would definately return. The owners were so friendly and helpful and provided lots of information about the surrounding area. The rooms were clean, warm and decorated in a modern and neautral way. It was really nice to have little added extras which you wouldn't get in other places - a tea pot in the rooms, an emergency kit containing various items, tea and biscuits on arrival etc. Great breakfast too! The guest house is only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre but there are also bars/restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The only tiny niggle I had was having to share a table with other guests at breakfast time . . . but maybe that's just me being antisocial!

“Stay once and you'll want to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

This was the 3rd time we'd stayed at Pitreavie and every time Jim and Liz made us feel like we were old friends returning.

During these times we've stayed in two of the rooms, the Pittencrieff (Superior Family/Double) and (I think) the slightly larger Abbey (Superior Family/Double). Both have more than sufficient space to allow you to relax should you not be going out in the evening.

Rooms are cleaned daily with replacement towels and bed linen. Coffee and tea making facilities are supplied. The shower rooms are comfortable enough to ensure I don't bang my elbows when I turn round. One caveat. Wait one minute before getting into the shower. Unless you like cold showers, that is. :-). But once the hot water comes through, it's a great shower ......

Breakfast offers a plentiful and generous choice, both for carnivores and fruit lovers. Jim makes a delicious full English which we always look forward to.

As with all B&B's, this is a non-smoking establishment but Jim and Liz have kindly made allowances for those that partake (i.e., me) by allowing smokers to sit in their award winning garden (and it deserves an award, don't know where Jim gets the time) and watching the various birds scavenging amongst the plants whilst we pollute the air.

Although Pitreavie is close by a main road the quality of the double glazing stops the sounds of the traffic.

Beds are extremely comfortable and conducive to a good nights sleep.

All in all, I'd be happy in Jim and Liz ran a chain of B&Bs because you'd know you will be in good hands.
