“Great spot in old Dunfermline”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Not much left of old Dunfermline so this hotel was a great find. Well placed for the town centre. Clean, comfortable (good big towels), and streamlined behind its ancient frontage. Staff all very pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant is excellent. Entry to the club is free for guests - we're a bit old for that, though! We asked for a quiet room on booking - no problem. You have to walk from the town car park behind the hotel but it's not far and we wouldn't expect on site parking in such an ancient street. We've stayed there twice and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you are staying over a weekend and don't want to hear the club.

Where to begin, myself& the misses spent Saturday night here& it was positively the worst nights stay I've ever had to make it worse it was the misses who'd footed the bill as a pressie for me. Having read some of the already negative reviews about the place I was at best sceptical but prepaired to see for myself, the misses had phoned ahead to say that we didn't want a room on the same side as the club as other tripads had said about the noise low & behold our room 107 is against the club, so we ask to be moved only to be told the hotel is stowed out with groupon punters the Resturant below albertos was decent the food was good. The negative was the waiting time for a 20:15 booking we left@ 22:10 because the service was so slow as I mentioned the club next door in their wisdom the Resturant toilets are shared by the club.?????? So when I went to the loo I find some spotty faced teen spewing his load in the cubicle being 1 of 2 in there am pretty sure any older or senior gent might have been a bit on the intimidated by the pissed up clowns in there, on return later trap 2 is also covered in vomit. SO we head out for a few drinks and return to a street full of pissed punters outside the hotel. As mentioned about the room there's a air con unit of industrial size right out side the window & the racket was severe to say the least resulting in the 2 of us getting a very Poor nights sleep. So to some it up take your car to Basra sleep in it, it'll probably work out cheaper, quieter safer

“A terrible experience”

The noise from the club is terrible and the staff , particularly the manager, is extremely rude. I would advise against anyone paying to stay in this hotel.

“Awesome place to stay!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

This was my first stay at the hotel, in the past I have always stayed at the nearby Keavil House Hotel, but due to it being full I decided to give this place a go. I have never been so pleased with a second choice.

The Keavil House is no more for me, in the future I will without a doubt be booking here. Where do I start? From beginning to end my stay was without a doubt, nothing short of excellent.

The reception staff gave me an extremely warm and professional welcome, they took the time to inform me about all the local attractions, after helping me all the way up to my room with my bags.

The room was very modern, spacious and airy. The cleanliness was second to none, and I am very particular in this area. I found the bed to be comfortable and contrary to previous reviews extremely quiet and peaceful.

Prior to retiring for the evening I took advantage of the attached restaurant, Albertos. The food and service was as excellent as the hotel, I also found the cost of my meal to be fantastic value for money.

I also had a few tipples in the attached bar, Harlem, the service here was as you might have guessed, second to none. Very friendly service, wonderful decor and lovely atmosphere. I am a seasoned traveller in my early thirties, and I believe this property will appeal to both the young and old alike.

I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough and will without a doubt be returning again and again!

Give it a go!

Room Tip: All the rooms that I saw were second to none.

“Sort the bed's please.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed here for one night (a Sunday) my girlfriend and I booked in for a romantic evening, got a king room, decor was nice, room was a good size, although the flatscreen tv was two small for the room when in bed you could not read the electronic program guide, not the biggest problem for a young couple (27/33) on a romantic night out. However the KING bed was actually two beds pushed together with one big duvet, this is a pet hate of mine if I book a double or a king I want a mattress that is just that, NOT Two singles zipped together!!! Room was generally very clean, but for one rather large "suspect" White stain on the throw that covers the bottom of the bed. Staff were efficient enough, but a smile and some eye contact would count as "hello welcome to rooms at 29 bruce street" instead of just "hi canna help ye" and when leaving how about thank you for your stay, instead of "go out the way you came in" as I was told when I tried to leave by the main double door by reception. The girl not even lifting her head from her desk, must have been a good Facebook post or something, she was reading. What's happened to some basic customer service? Breakfast was excellent, best full Scottish breakfast I've ate in any hotel in dunfermline, the quality of the components shone through, and cooked to perfection by the friendly chef. Don't remember the club noise being to intrusive. Overall not bad, just really the bed thing that would stop me booking again, for £69.00 I want to be cuddle up without falling down the uncomfortable split in the bed.
