The Macfie family offers a very nice B&B accomodation. I felt very much at home, again. Meeting the members of the family at the breakfast table is a very good start in your day. The house is beautiful. To me, it is a treasure, like an island in the New Town sea. (Please excuse this reference to RLS ;-)) I will return in the future to Edinburgh and this wonderful house.

I found the house while looking for Stevenson sites, THEN found it was a B&B, so booked a stay immediately. If you like to move in with a delightful family and be treated as one of them, this is the place. Good food, wine, constant conversations about books and authors. We exchanged books and tips. My friends joined us for a lovely dinner. Felicitas is an amazing cook and inn keeper. After visiting Vailima and working my way back to Hariot Row, I feel very much in touch with my favorite author.
Oh, yes, and the location is perfect for enjoying the city, walking the historic streets, and learning about great shops, restaurants and sights to see.

Located in a perfect spot to hit beautiful Edinburgh city, lies the family owned Stevenson house. Yes, Stevenson as in the writer. And booklovers, you will adore this place and the family living in it. There is a slight catch, you will be part of the family. Is that a catch, you might ask? Well, I have read some comments complaining about noise made by the children and the amount of clutter. So if you are looking for a quiet room, without the lively laughter of people, just to be on your own, without any distractions whatsoever, please, do not go here. But if you are looking for a vibrant place, filled with books and history, with a beautiful family running it, with breakfast at whatever time you like, with an absolutely stunning room and dito bathroom, and all this slap bang in the centre, please, go here. I surely will be coming back.
