First off, I was greeted by a woman with a boy's name. I found this very strange, however she was pleasant enough. I was disappointed with the color of the wallpaper, that was another first impression. As I said, the woman was very nice, however she lacked the professionalism I had seen from many other guest houses. My wife worked in a guest house many years ago and she couldn't believe a woman was running this business all on her own. I was tempted to ask how she coped, but I will give her that much, she was strong and courageous.
We checked into our room and the smell of smoke was very strong. I was put off at first, but as a smoker it gave me freedom to smoke inside the room without worrying. The next morning I needed to buy groceries but the nearest place was miles away and I had sore feet, we were told there was a small place to pick up cigarettes and liquor however at that point, I was just annoyed.
The breakfast in the morning was good, but I did not appreciate the man serving food. HIs attire for work was not the best and I would have expected a table waiter to be dressed better. He looked friendly and tried to make conversation, but his strong Scotch accent overpowered any means of communication, I was about to ask him to write down what he had said, however out of annoyance for everything, I didnt.
I checked out the following night and made our way into the beautiful city of Edinburgh and found a cheaper guesthouse, however the appauling attitude of the staff was very unrefreshing and we deeply regretting not staying in South Queenferry. Queenferry is a small and unsettling city and I recommend to anyone, that although the quality may not be better it is worth visiting the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our trip although we will never ever come back. If we do we shall be staying in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. We appreciate everything Callum did for us during our stay, and we recommend her services to anyone, but it really just wasn't for us.
I took some cards home to Hartford and they may be interested in visiting, maybe they will appreciate the guest house to its proper value.

This is a classic review. I have been waiting on a response like this for some time, and the reason, it just goes to show you cannot please all of the people all of the time. After 70 positives you have to expect some negativity and it certainly came in a strange form. First of all please note the Bed and Breakfast was not criticised, my wifes name was, the fact it was thought she ran the business herself was, as was the wallpaper, our attire and the locality of the shops. Please note we have a STRICT non smoking policy, with notices of a penalty if abused, therefor, the previous guest as well as the reviewer would both have been repremanded, we are 50 meters from a supermarket, my wife and I both wear, white shirts/blouse and trousers/skirt, classic waitering attire, all very clean and professional.
South Queensferry is not a city but a small town, with beautiful views and a historic past, nothing to match Edinburgh which is absolutely wonderful and vibrant, but we have a contrast,
you can have all of Edinburgh during the day, and superb night views and good food in Queensferry in the evening.
The reviewer is more than welcome back to retry our fine hospitality, and should he do so, I would certainly hope he submits another review, but suggest he does not wait 9 months, as his memories may just become a little...........cloudy? shall we say.
