Rooms are a bit dated, but there was some evidence of works while we were there. The food is good, cask ales and all, and the location and price more than make up for any quirky facilities.

Stayed on night mid january in room 6, overlooking the bridge. great location, slight train noise at night though. Innkeepers lodge who own the place do some great deals so sign up through their site. We were very happy with ours. THe bonus was the staff who were fantastically friendly and helpful. Its nice to see people enjoying their jobs. Well done and thanks!

Even before we checked in we knew this was going to be a good choice. The weather was awful but the welcome was warm and welcoming. We had room 6 - warm and well furnished - with lovely views of the water and bridges. Breakfast was well presented - tea and coffee served at the table, not help yourself as we have had at other Innkeepers. A nice touch! Hope to return later in the year when the weather may be better.

This is a stunning location - like something out of a film. We were in room 7, with a wonderful view of the Firth and the two bridges. The whole atmosphere of the place is very appealing. It's old-world without being shabby, and there's a real sense of history. How many hotels have a view as good as this? Fantastic value as well - you could easily pay two or three times as much for something that isn't as good.
Slight drawbacks? Maybe the bathroom was starting to become slightly shabby around the edges. The food is fine, but it isn't haute cuisine. South Queensferry is a surprisingly picturesque town. Definitely recommended.
