Finding Hotel on dark evening difficult, bad signage. No lights on at front of building and door locked with note left to report to Masson Hotel when we did eventually find it, then another 10 minutes to locate Masson Hotel. Our first thoughts on arrival was to find other hotel as we would be the only guests as it looked desserted ,not very welcoming, feel this hotel needs a manned reception area and windows at least on lower floor lit, at this time of year could even have been small Christmas tree in each of the front ones. We were told that breakfast was to be served in Masson Hotel and had a slippery walk round as snow and frost that weekend, why therefore can a covered walkway not be put up from nearest points of each building, not even an umbrella if a shower came on. We were cold and tired from shopping all day on our arrival but on eventually entering the Salisbury Hotel found it warm and were pleasantly surprised at our lovely room only thing missing was suitcase stand. Still think outer appearance very important and in the morning light noticed lower front windows blinds closed and pulled half way up and chairs stacked at windows, dont want to see this. All seems very negative but giving our honest opinion. On a positive side we would stay here again, receptionists very helpful, room first class, breakfast very good. went across road in evening to Salisbury arms for a meal, good pub food and lovely atmostphere.
