“To the Moon and back... Le Monde is still the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

If you went to the Moon and back you would struggle to find better more genuine staff than there are at the 'uber chique' and totally 'Hip' Le Monde - nothing is too much trouble for them to do to make your stay amazing. Our arrival started with three free glasses of Champagne whilst checking in accompanied by great conversation with the three really friendly reception staff and the General Manager to help us get settled in. The Reception hall is really funky and eclectic yet comfortable to sit and wait in if you are going out by taxi. Not that you are likely to use taxis because the location on George Street is absolutely perfect. It is only three minutes walk at most to Edinburgh's main Waverley Railway Station and being right on George Street you are next to all the best restaurants, the finest shops and even most of the best Galleries to be found in Edinburgh. You can walk to almost anywhere you are likely to need to get to. If you do have to drive then there is a big well lit indoor car park about 250 yards away at the St James' Centre.

The bedrooms are really well planned out and full of little extras and personalised notes from Management or Staff, much more so than any Five Star Deluxe hotel would normally give you. Great bathrooms with immense showers that help you soak away any stress you may have brought with you. We have stayed in three different rooms over the past two years and because each is themed after a different Country or City the styles and your experience each time is wholely different and made all the more exciting. Atlantis was awesome with its live Aquarium in the bed head ! The Room Service menu and Mini bars are excellent and well priced so you don't feel in any way inhibited from taking advantage of them as you sometimes be can in some hotels.

I described Le Monde earlier as 'uber chique' and ' totally Hip' and it is just that.
This is where the 'In Crowd' and most 'Visiting Celebrities' come to drink or to party down in the basement Shanghai Nightclub. All three bars are usually packed with excited conversation and fortunately are blessed with really efficient bar staff who just want to please you with good service and great cocktails. It is fun to drink first in either Vienna or Milan which are ground floor level so people are coming and going and if it is your thing , you can people watch and then either eat in the restaurant which is very good or later on go upstairs to Paris on the second floor which is totally exciting and intimate in a vibrant kind of way.

Then if you are up for some dancing and great music hop in the 'Guests Only' Lift straight down into the hotel's own Shanghai nightclub. We danced until we dropped early into Sunday morning and then tripped back upstairs to the totally sound proofed and quiet upper bedroom floors where you wouldn't know there was a nightclub or Bar for miles around. Great z's for one and all.

On Sunday morning in Milan Restaurant there is a great Breakfast which serves a whole host of different breakfast dishes and the very best of strong black Americano's right up until
5.00 pm if you have really had a bad bad night and need to sleep it off. We had a train to catch so didn't quite take advantage of the late serving but the Scottish breakfast was great value and totally fulfilling. Then a really efficient check out by warm and friendly staff once again who really really wanted to know how much we had enjoyed our stay and asked if there was anything that could have been done better. Genuine quality service by well trained and motivated staff who clearly enjoy their job of looking after you in the best possible way.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location and I for one would not hesitate to book again. i have been coming to Edinburgh on both business and for pleasure for many years but since staying at Le Monde my visits seem to get more and more fun each time. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I have stayed in three different rooms and each was excellent. Atlantis probably had the biggest wow...

“Finally found it”

After several visits to Edinburgh, trying different hotels each time, I have finally found the perfect place. Perfect location, excellent rooms, great reception staff. Just one more excuse for a visit to Edinburgh! Only suggestion is to improve selection for television-very basic. Luckily so much to see and do in Edinburgh, TV not a huge issue. Highly reccomend this hotel.

We stayed here for my Birthday and had a fabulous time . My Partner had arranged everything for a surpise! The hotels location couldn't be better on st Georges street just 2 minutes walk from the princess street . When we arrived we were told we were upgraded to the cairo room ! The room was fantastic , it had a jaccuzi bath with television and a sitting area , it was very spacious . On arrival we had flowers , champagne , chocolates and a birthday cake which were all lovely . The Shangai club was excellent and had fabulous cocktails .Overall I would definatley reccommend this hotel especially for special occasions.

Room Tip: Cairo Room is Fab!

“This is a really really really (really) good hotel”

We stayed here for my 30th birthday with my pregnant wife.

Right from arriving at this hotel we were impressed with the sevice and the place. Little things like offering to help us with bags, Scottish receptionists how were friendly and helpful, carrying our bags up to the room, offering us an upgrade, giving us a tour of the excellent rooms so we could decide which one we wanted, all made for a great stay.

We ended up in Cairo which was quite simply one of the best hotel rooms I have stayed in (only beaten by others in Le Monde!). Again the little things made it exceptional, complimentary water, Sky tv in the rooms, tv above the bed, a bath that was was bigger than some other hotel rooms I have stayed in, the comfy couches in the seating area! Everything about it was great. We also enjoyed our free cocktails in the sumptious bar which was just amazing. The bar staff were polite, helpful and we spent all day on the last day having drinks and chatting to the staff. We didn't want to leave! It was amazing.

Is it clear enough that this hotel is excellent? I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed in Cairo which was good but we also saw LA and Sydeny which looked good too. We've sta...

“Sydney surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Turned up at this beautiful hotel to find we had been given a free upgrade to the junior suite, Sydney. We were booked to go to Paris but to end up in Sydney was a great surprise. The suite was really cool. Great decor and the overall space was fantastic. Very modern look to the whole place. The bathroom was very cool with sunk in bath and walk in shower. (tried both!) Staff were very helpfull and friendly throughout our stay. We dinned and drank in the hotel aswell and enjoyed every minute of it.

Will definitely be back again!
