We have regularly used Garfield bed and breakfast since 2006. Host Martin is always in the same cheery mood whatever time of day we have arrived and nothing has ever been too much trouble for him.
On arrival in the early afternoon on Monday 21st May we discovered Martin had ventured into bistro style dining at lunchtime and evening, and this was his first day............We had made plans to eat out with friends that night and sadly couldn`t contact them to change the venue, but on our return the guests who had eaten in the dining room were really impressed with the quality of the produce, presentation and good value for money.
The 264 restaurant is right at the bus stop for the city tour so even if you are staying somewhere else it is worth jumping off the bus for a snack and comfort break before resuming your city tour.
The expansion has not eaten into the care and attention lavished on the guest rooms, and some renovations will eventually be made to add alfresco dining too. No alcohol license yet so take your own bottle if you need something stronger than coffee or tea.......although the tea at breakfast time always hits the spot.
Can`t wait for our next excuse to head south and stay at Garfield.

An excellent experience - really friendly and efficient - spotlessly clean and right on the tour and local bus route. Thoroughly recommended - and wiht planned expansion shuld be an even better choice!

We arrived late afternoon and were immediately met with a fantastically warm welcome. Nothing was too much for Martin. The rooms are clean and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent and ther rest of the staff are gracious. I would definitely recommend this guest house to anyone.

Our stay at Garfield made our visit to Edinburgh one not to forget. If you are with up to 5 persons ask for room 8 which is huge and has a great overview over the city and its Castle. Breakfast is superb and tailored to you personal preferences. Martin is doing his utmost to keep his guests happy! Its quite a walk to the Royal Mile but Bus 23 and 14 stop right in front of the door and bring you there in 15 minutes. Otherwise take a cab for £ 6 - 8. When we come back in Edinburgh we will definitely stay at Garfield again.
