My husband and I decided on a last minute trip to Edinburgh for Hogmanay and found the Lauderville by chance on a search engine. We were able to park easily and free (centre parking is £4.80 for 2hrs!) and had an en-suite to the rear of this beautifully restored building. Although the room was on the small side (as was the en suite) it was spotless. Being a bit faddy over this sort of thing I tend to double-check and it was probably the cleanest room I've ever stayed in ! My only grumble was that there didnt appear to be any water-pressure to the electric shower leaving me having to dance around to get wet! Yvonne, the owner immediately offered use of their bathroom on the 1st floor and it was checked that day by the plumber but was unable to be improved upon but they did all they could to rectify the issue. Breakfast was lovely. Fruit, croissant, cereals or full scottish (vegetarian haggis a must), scrambled eggs&smoked salmon. All tasty and cooked to perfection by Brian. Location-wise it is about a 15minute walk into the centre with buses running regularly for £1.20 a pop or £3 for an all day ticket. Overall, very good service, clean and well situated. We would be happy to stay again.
