“Hosts who go way over 'above & beyond'.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2010

On our our second trip to Edinburgh this year we stayed at Blacket Garden Flat again & are very happy that we did. We travelled towards the end of November and were caught in the snowstorm of the century. In March it was volcanic ash and t his time it was snowflakes - & lots of them! We had to re-book 3 times before finally bussing to Glasgow to fly out. Isobel and Jimmy went above and beyond the whole time we were there, giving up their computer, their phone, their sleep and never losing their patience nor their friendly, welcoming manner. Jimmy was up to see us off at 3 am and neither of them were surprised when we turned up on the doorstep later that morning. The room and breakfasts were excellent and the fresh strawberries - in November - were wonderful. We had a chance to get to know Jimmy's local rather well, met grandchildren, and felt like we were treated as well as family would be. I don't like being a 'high-maintenance guest' but we became just that this trip and Isobel and Jimmy couldn't have handled it any better than they did.

“Thank you Miss Marple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

This was the second time we stayed with Isobel and Jimmy and we have no hesitation in recomending this intimate B&B to any one. Due to the fact that there are only 2 rooms there is the feel of staying with friends rather than as a paying guest and you are treated to 5 star treatment nothing is too much for this lovely couple . Rooms are large and comfortable with a fridge that is filled with drinks in the room . Beds are comfortable and rooms are quiet . There is a good bus service into town and plenty of very good restaurants within walking distance.

“Home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

This place was recommened by my daughter who has stayed on two occassions. When we arrived Isobel and Jimmy couldn't get to the door quick enough to welcome us.We were shown into quite a large room and the only thing missing were the flowers.Sweets.fruit.muffins.tea.coffee.water and soft drinks were provided as well as a great Scotish welcome. The breakfast were superb and directions for bus routes.taxis.and places to eat were all provided.A great quiet place to stay for a good nights sleep after a long busy day.Would certainly return again.

“Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2010

A warm welcome, large airy rooms, comfortable beds and what can you say about those breakfasts. Isobel and Jimmy open their home to you as if you are already a friend. My parents and I stayed for two nights and it was a pleasure. It is a pleasant walk into the city centre and a delight to get back to the little haven in Blacket Place. Thank you so much.

“Great place to stay in Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

I stayed at the Blacket Garden Flat with my husband and 4 month old baby and we had a great time. Isobel could not have been more welcoming and our room was perfect. It was big enough with our small baby that we could watch TV with her in the cot and not disturb her. We also really appreciated all the little touches in the room. The breakfasts are amazing and really set us up for a day of exploring Edinburgh. We loved the area the flat was in, a beautiful conservation area, and it is only a 20 minute walk into the city centre. We liked that it had more of a residential and quieter location. We would definitely recomment this as a place to stay to anyone visiting Edinburgh, and hope to visit again ourselves.
