We had two separate stays there and if it wasn't prepaid, we would've cancelled our reservations and went elsewhere.
The rooms were nice, however, we asked for private or ensuite rooms and did not receive them. We were informed by the hostess that we were lucky to get what we had. We arrived early in the first day of our three week vacation, dropped our luggage (with prior approval) received our room keys and left for the day. When we returned and opened the door at 10:30 pm, another couple was already in the room and screamed at us. So we had to change rooms.
The breakfast was a choice of three cold cereal, eggs and toast and even though she had posted breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30, we were told 8:45, three of us were there, but if the fourth person wasn't there by 9:00, he wouldn't be served. The next two mornings we had early travel reservations and she did not allow any accommodations for breakfast.
Upon our second stay to return home we were put on the first floor in a room that the small children kept coming into and right near the front door. The bathroom was on the second floor where we had to walk past the front entrance with the outside door wide open and big glass windows. This was extremely uncomfortable. We considered this to be a very poor introduction and exit to Edinburgh.
