“I got married here - truely amazing”

My husband and I decided to get married here after our parents went to visit on our behalf. We live abroad. I had viewed pics on their website but honestly found that it was much better to view in real life. I fell in love with this place as soon as I saw it. The grounds are lovely, vast and secluded with great views of the forth road bridge. Inside is where the magic happens. There is a very beautiful library for guest to relax as well as a billiards room which has a full size snooker table. Plenty to entertain guests while they wait. The bedrooms are stunning. They had the old feeling but without being shabby. The bathroom in the winter room was lovely. It has the original bath. the decor is just lovely.

We had our ceremony in the the auld keep. Pictures do not do this place justice. I just love it. Very medeival like with the winding staircase and stag chambers and gun rooms off the landings. Being scottish, Sir Jack & Lady Lydia had no objection to us flying to soltaire.

We had our wedding breakfast in the paviilion which was was a modern twist on the theme but was also stunning. Our guest were really spellbound by their experience at our wedding. If you get married here its not just a day for the bride and groom but also for the guests as this is a wonderful place for them to just see.

We spent the evening in the boathouse, in the morning we got our breakfast basket which was lovely. the door opens out on to the porch over the water and it was so quiet and idylic. we had a family of swans come over quacking for food. The certainly enjoyed our breakfast as much as we did. the whole expereince at dundas castle will remain in my memory not just for being my wedding day but for the venue too.

I have never written an article on here but felt so strongly about how wonderful this place is, I had to share it with others. I wish I could do it all again.

Also, not to forget the staff there, amazing, professional, courtesous, experts....need I say more.

Room Tip: the boathouse is a must for the honeymoon suite or even any event.

We are so glad that you had such a wonderful time here for your wedding and that you were able to make the trip 'home' to host your guests in your own Scottish castle. We're sure that the estate looks very different to how you last saw it - and it won't be long before the swans are camouflaged by a dusting of snow around the loch!

With best wishes to you both from the team at Dundas Castle

“9:30am check-out time for room, 10:30am check-out time for grounds”

It is a great place/house. Always love a place with a long history behind it. Arhitecture of the main house is just stunning, yet cozy. Decorations were just beautiful, every detail is perfectly in place making every room complete with rich fullness. Makes wonderful pictures.

But got herded in for the event and herded out of room right next morning at 9:30am left a lot to be desired to enjoy the greatness of the place. Although, one cannot blame the timing, they have weddings almost everyday, so says a taxi driver.

Service is wonderful, but at wedding reception there were teenage like servers giggling because one went to the wrong table twice, it is a cozy reception, but had high expectation, so ...
For breakfast, when we were just about to finish our cold buffet breakfast, then one server came in and asked if we want hot breakfast...too late, but we were not late nor early for the breakfast time.

Room was lovely, elegant, nicely decorated, strange that the gold-plated-plumbing shower had no place to put toiletry, had to put shampoo & shower gel on the floor (glad we brought our own hair condition, these days even a simple modern woman need hair condition). Heard each room is different, though.

Must be a nice place to have a longer visit, or a more relaxed visit, if you know the family well?

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your experience of Dundas Castle. We are delighted that you were so enamoured with the Castle and that you felt that our service was wonderful.

We were, however, sorry to read the point about two of our waiting staff. This was highly unusual and appropriate action has been taken to ensure that it does not happen, in the future.

With regards to the check-out time - during peak seasons we do ask guests to check out after breakfast at 10.30am so that we can invite any other guests to arrive at 12 noon. With this early check-in time residents have more time to enjoy the Castle before a wedding ceremony or event.

We hope that you enjoyed the wedding that you attended and that we can welcome you back to the Castle in the future.

“Wonderful stay for a family wedding”

We stayed here for a family wedding; the wedding reception was held here. From arrival through to departure you will rarely experience customer service and lavish surrounding as those found at Dundas Castle.
As part of the wedding reception we had access to the main rooms of the castle and access to the grounds. Our room was fabulous with a great bathroom attached - great view of the original part of the castle from the window.
A wonderful experience and will recall our stay for a long time.

“Perfect Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

My husband and I decided to wed at Dundas; a decision we have never regretted. The bedrooms were spacious and well appointed, the water pressure almost blasting (this is a good thing) and the staff... well the staff could not been more attentive, focus-driven or kind. We felt as if the grounds, the public and bed rooms were ours and always had been. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.

There are many castles in Scotland that can provide a wedding, but there are few that can provide the stellar level of service, care and consideration that Dundas Castle offers, and at a lesser cost than many of their local competition. We had visited many castles, all with their own unique issues; strange smells, dodgy staff, guests banished to a terrible 1960's annex, terrible food. Dundas has NONE of these issues. The staff are patient, kind, and have the kind of temper that can withstand even the pickiest of brides with aplomb.

We had nothing to complain about, and are already planning (more like scheming) a way that we can all return with our guests for more of the same on an annual basis. Not only were they willing to withstand our version of entertainment, they also had on offer a 4 x 4 course, golf on tap, and enough diversions to make even the most jaded of travellers let their hair down.

Dundas Castle and its staff, in a word, is miraculous. Highly recommended to any bride seeking her fairy tale wedding.

“Beautiful, would love to return”

I stayed here for a friends wedding and would return in a flash. The service was the best I have ever experienced, they went above and beyond. My husband and I are hoping to book the castle for a private stay for friends and family next year. I would definitely recommend Dundas for its beauty, grandure and the warmth of the family home.

  • Liked — The rooms were perfectly clean and the interior design was amazing
  • Disliked — you have to book the whole castle so i cant come back on my own!!
