We stayed in 11/1 apartment in mid November, it is newly refurblished, everything is new and clean. Bed rooms are spacious with unblocked view of the city. Living room is cosy with direct facing of the Castle. Our nine years old love it espeically with the choices of age appropriate DVDs. Welcome basket is generous, we had breakfast in the apartment without having to buy anything. Location is excellent, easy access to shopping and amenities. Moira and her husband was very accommodating and helpful on the day of our check out, thank you for making our stay an enjoyable one.

Very nice short stay in (16/4) an ideal location between the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Grassmarket area. Nicely finished apartment suitable for 4, much nicer than getting 2 hotel rooms for the 4 adults staying. Well equipped apartment with nice welcome basket, and full of information booklets, maps, brochures, local menus etc. Comfortable beds and good water pressure in shower. We really enjoyed our stay. The only negative is the apartment is situated next to a stairway up to Edinburgh Castle Esplanade and across the street from a youth hostel. There was quite a bit of noise on Friday and Saturday night but quality of the apartment and location so close to the best of the city make this somewhere we would like to stay again if visiting with a group of 4.

we went to ABC Apartment after reading all the reviews in Tripadvisor and I can assure that all is true. We stayed at apartment 11/1, very close to the castle and the other attractions.
Even if Moira told us that it was the first time a family with 2 little children (4 and 7 years old) stayed in the apartment we found it very well organised: she left plenty of useful suggestion about the city also in Italian (we are Italian), a varietes of DVD's with cartoons and films..and our children have been really very happy to find Nemo and other favourite cartoons!

After reading all the positive reviews here on TripAdvisor, when booking our “Bucket List” trip to Scotland, we reserved Apartment by Castle (16/4 – Johnson Terrace). It is ideally located at the base of the Edinburgh Castle and at the head of the Royal Mile, was large enough for myself and tall husband and son, is well maintained, and is very professionally run by the cheerful Moira Bowman.

We based ourselves in Edinburgh for a week and planned day trips out of the city; we didn’t want to live out of suitcases during that time and we wanted a place where we would not be tripping over each other. The apartment has two good-size bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. It is absolutely perfect for a family traveling to Edinburgh – as a matter of fact, because of our excellent experience at Moira’s apartment, we will now look for apartment rentals in other destinations we visit. Not only do apartments give you more space than a hotel (as well as a kitchen to prepare couple of breakfasts, snacks, etc.), it’s about a third of the cost.

We highly recommend Apartment by Castle and Moira Bowman – unless you simply must have nightly turn-down service and/or room service (you can always send your kid out to fetch something <grin>), there’s honestly no reason to stay anywhere else when visiting Edinburgh.
