Great location, close to the great bars and restaurants of Leith Walk and the Shore. Friendly and accommodating staff, comfy room and a massive full Scottish breakfast - what more could you want?

Very lovely landlords (young couple I suppose), very friendly, always smiling and trying to be of help more than you would expect. Quiet street, next to the park, 20 minutes walk to the city centre. But you can buy a day ticket for £3 for quite a few buses and the bus stop is right in front of the house. You can park the car in front of the house as well for free and as long as you want. Seemed like a safe area to me. Was quite happy to find a WiFi internet for free in the room. A kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits and even spring bottled water (the last was the first time in my experience). I am sure you will also recommend this place after visiting it once.

I stayed here when I went to the Tattoo I was there for a week on my own choice I payed in advance although they only asked me for a deposit on two occasions I went out early in the morning before Breakfast on both occasions they gave me a tray with cerial milk orange juice some bread butter and marmlade to take to my room that evening so I would have some breakfast before I went out in the morning the place was very clean and both Danny and Jasmin were very friendly I cannot rate the place highly enough and am returning again this year it is not in the center but you can get a bus from just a very short walk away or you can walk into the center in about 15 to 20 mins

My partner & have just returned from a New Years trip to Edinburgh and found Mackenzie's to be a perfect compromise between price and distance to the city.
The rooms are good sized, very clean and with modern bathrooms. The hosts are lovely and the breakfasts are both tasty and huge.
Don't be put off by the fact it's a 10min bus ride from the city centre - buses come every 10mins so you never are waiting long and there's some really good cafes along the way that beat going to the chain-cafes with every other tourist in the city. And if you're really stuck, it's less than 8 pound to get a taxi to/from the city centre anyway.
