Although the room was nice enough, we had pre-booked and paid through a booking site and were then pinged with a 200 pound pre-authorisation on our credit card which we didn't find out about until after we left the hotel! This tied up a huge amount of our spending money for the rest of our trip (which included Paris). The service we received when ringing up to find out why they were holding so much money was terrible. The first person we spoke to told us we would definitely have the money back in two business days, the next said five, the next said seven...!!! I probably wasted $30AU or more on phone calls. I would never stay here again as each person we spoke to was rude, and no one informed us of the 200 pound pre-authorisation and the insane amount of time for which they would hold it when we checked in (all the other UK hotels we stayed at just took card details and only billed--within a couple of days--if we had used services etc.). Were they investing the money?? We will never know but it was certainly a terrible experience!
