“Really enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We had a night at this hotel as a treat while going out for dinner in Edinburgh and had a really good experience. The staff on the desk were very helpful and really knowledgeable about the area making good recommendations. Breakfast was busy but we didn't need to queue and the food set us up for the day. The room was clean and had a nice view of Edinburgh Castle which was a bonus! We didn't make use of the pool but it did look nice and very quiet.
We would come back to this hotel and recommend it.

“Excellent hotel, ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed in Novotel with my wife for 3 nights and I enjoyed every minute of Edinburgh. Novotel is in a perfect location, 2 minutes walk from the bustling grassmarket, 5 minutes from Edinburgh castle and approx 15 mins to princes st. Hotel was fantastic in general, clean, very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. The leisure centre is great after a long days walking around the city. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the hotel, breakfast was very expensive so we used the small cafe's around the grassmarket of which there are plenty! 16.50 in my opinion is excessive for breakfast. The toilet in the room is separate from the bathroom which is a little off putting not to mention unhygienic. All said, I would still recommend this hotel for it's location, friendly staff and overall good experience had.

“The only disappointment was the breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My mum and I stayed here courtesy of a Groupon deal. The hotel is a 10 minute stroll from the Grassmarket which has an array of pubs and restaurants. We just wanted a night away to unwind and this is what we got. Our twin room was spacious, clean. The only oddity was the toilet was seperate from the bathroom and did not have a wash handbasin.
The pool was lovely but not the biggest not sure you could comfortably swim with more than 5 or 6 people in it (hotel information said no more than 15 in it). OUr deal included a 3 course dinner which was lovely. As i said in the title we were disappointed in the breakfast. There was plenty out but not many people which meant it was a tad dry and congealed. Also there was cheese sitting by the hot breakfast which was hot and sweaty. I wouldn't have been happy to pay extra for this.
Our room was very warm, we did have air con but i can't sleep with the noise so it meant the room was melting in the middle of the night.

On the whole clean and comfortable in a good location for those wanting a break.

“Certainly not a 4 Star Hotel”

Stayed her with my boyfriend in December, I wasn't that impressed with the hotel, there was mould on the shower tiles. Breakfast was nice but at a price of £13 each, I'd recommend the little cafe around the corner.
