Our apartment was very clean but basic. Bunk beds, wooden floors and kitchen with cooking facilities but no frills. Mattresses were brand new and comfortable. Bed linen was clean but towels which we hired for £1 were a bit worn. Bathroom had just been painted so no complaints. Walking distance to castle and greyfriars bobby. Our group had a lot of fun and would stay at this property again. Good value for £15 per night.

I booked in 24 of us to this place..the web site looks good..but thats where it ended..it was horrid. Broken toilet seats, door locks, windows..no hot water in our apartment..everything about this place was bad...kettle that leaked water as it was boiling, so when it boiled..there was no hot water left in it and the smell ! we asked for the hot water to be fixed and the toilet to be unblocked..sadly the member of staff, seemed to be on another planet, at the time.
Too many faults to list in the space.

I am stunned in 2011 a place like this is allowed by the local council and fire dept. shame on Edinburgh and Scotland..

The hostel was ok and the staff was very helpful (the door to the first room we got was a bit broken so they moved us without question to another room). The room was nice and clean and so were the kitchen and toilets, nothing fancy but it is a hostel after all!

If you are, however, in need of a quiet place to sleep then this hostel is not for you because there is a lot of noise late into the night from the bar across the road who have a large beer garden at the front of the bar.

I stayed at the hostel during the Edinburgh fringe so as you can guess was manic. The hostel was clean but very basic a bunk bed and a wardrobe. We payed a little bit extra so we didn't have to share our room it's defo worth doing. The location is excellent.
