One of the staff members at this place brings massive attitude to the table! Great kitchen on offer! Rooms very basic and cold at night considering they turn the heaters off around midnight! You would think that is the best time to have them on!

Having stayed in various hostels in Edinburgh I found this one to be the nicest - perhaps not as central as some others.. but the short walk in to the old town was pleasant and took no time at all. The room was good, there are two well equipped, well organized kitchens and an added bonus of an outdoor seating area. Despite the busy season there was none of the expected 'hostel kitchen chaos' or terminal waiting for showers.. Next time I'm in Edinburgh this is the place I'll be heading for!

I stayed there for three nights and was at first a bit disappointed with small rooms and an odd smell coming probably from the old carpet. However, the hostel made up for this very fast! Two large and fully equipped kitchens that lead on a nice terrace in the back, clean bathrooms, extremely friendly, relaxed and helpful staff that let us use their computer, print and offered us a beer ;). 20 min walk from the city center, but a nice walk through the meadows, nice neighborhood close to university, but also calm during the night (there is a very cool pub just 2 min from the hostel, though!). All in all, a great experience, a hostel where you can go with friends (for the atmosphere), but also with your parents (kitchen facilities, quiet during the night). I would definitely come back!

I stayed here with friends last july it was my second visit very nice hostel.
You get what you pay for very basic with all the facilities that you need.
The staff were very helpful and it was in a nice safe area right beside the meadows and a short walk from town which saved on taxi as there was a group of us to walk home.
I would stay here again.
