I stayed there for a week in the double room, and then two days in a four-bed dorm room. The room are simple and clean. The restrooms are always very clean. I especially like the kitchen and lounge area. The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious. A very nice place to chat with other travelers. They have two buildings on the same block. Both are very nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is good, too. It's not in the city center, but it's only 10-15 minutes walk to the royal mile. It's near the park and on a quiet and safe neighborhood.

They accept credit card but will charge more on credit card transaction.

This place was really nice except for two things: it was far away from the city center and the floors squeaked terribly. The beds were comfortable, the rooms warm, the bathroom clean. We stayed in one of the hostel's apartments down the way from the main hostel and it seemed like we were the only people there at the time. The great room downstairs had loads of vhs tapes to watch and a well-equipped kitchen with lots of space. Up the street are several grocery stores and a bus stop. Staff was really friendly and helpful! Wifi was included as well as a TV in the room with basic channels.

Myself and my partner spent three nights in this hostel and were generally impressed.
We arrived at the hostel much earlier than check-in time to drop our bags off and check-in later. However, we were told we could check in early but our room would not quite be ready and that it would be finished while we were out. A good bonus as we wouldn't have to pop back in the afternoon just to check in! Reception staff were very friendly and happy to help.
We were pleasantly surprised by our room: decent tv, comfy bed, nice dresser and there were only three other rooms on our floor.
We were told that our room would be finished while we were out but although the bed was already made when we checked in early, the floor needed hoovering pretty badly which wasn't done.
The hostel was pretty quiet at night except for when people sat out of the front of the hostel til late, but this wasn't overly noisey.
A great location, really close to town and the meadows!
I would recommend this hostel for those who are happy to share a bathroom, however, I have paid the same price as I paid here for an en-suite room in the past and will do again! While the facilities were good, I wouldn't reccomend this hostel to people who like to get up and out first thing, or to those who need the toilet in between 8am and 10am!! Even though there were only a few other rooms on our floor, the guests from the lower floors were using the upstairs bathroom and one group of people took turns to shower and then stood in the door to the bathroom, shouting their friends to come in next, even when there was a queue right in front of them. On one occassion, I had to wait twenty minutes for a shower (not too bad) but then because of the rudeness of the other guests it was another hour before my partner could get a shower.
Probably not such a problem for some but for those who don't like having to wait around for people they're not even travelling with I'd suggest taking the time to find an equally-priced en-suite hostel as we wished we had!!

I am a very light sleeper but because this hostel was so quiet I slept really well. The front desk staff were friendly and the hostel is in walking distance to the Royal Mile. My only complaints are that the beds were a bit too short for my 6'1" travelling companion to fit into comfortably and we were never able to get the internet to work in our room.
