“First Class Hotel”

We have previously visited The Glasshouse on each occassion finding it to achieve its 5 star rating. The staff are always very helpful and general standards excellent. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast also receiveds top marks. The location of the hotel is ideal for a nearby car park and easy to travel by foot around all the main attractions.

my husband booked the glass house to celebrate my birthday. We stopped for 2nights between xmas and new year. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and told everything we needed to know about the hotel. We were shown to room 69 which was spacious and had the added benefit of a large roof terrace complete with garden furniture. The bathroom had everything you needed nice toiletries along with lovely deep bath and seperate power shower cubicle. The beds were very comfortable - linen very good quality as were the pillows. The only down side to the room was that the terrace door didn't shut properly and a gale force wind was blowing through at night time, the carpet in the bedroom was stained - surprised as the rest of the hotel was spotless. The honesty bar was a little weird (basically a cupboard on a landing) and i missed the gathering of other guests for a night cap drink. We found a great place to eat breakfast 2 for £10 at the Filling Station Restaurant in cinema complex which served the offer until 12.00 midday

Thank you for your comments about the staff and the comfort. With regards to the carpets we are in the process of deep cleaning or replacing them as necessary, so I am sorry you found yours to be in need of attention. We are happy to read that you otherwise enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

“great location - stylish hotel”

My boyfriend booked the 'Romance Package' which is a corner suite, and considering the size of the suite (it was massive) and it being Edinburgh, the price wasn't too expensive. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Check in is 2pm, but can sometimes accommodate you earlier if you let them know in advance. Check out is 11am (12pm on Sundays). The whole of the rooms are situated on the 3rd floor, which also boasts a roof top garden (which is lovely) and a bar. The only thing I didn't like, was the breakfast. There isn't much to choose from, and you don't get much.
Situated next door is a centre (almost like a shopping centre) full of pubs, cinema, and eateries, and next door to that is a car park, which has car boot sales on Sundays. Across the road is a shopping centre with the usual - John Lewis, HMV, Boots etc.
Is about a 7 min walk from Waverley Station, and Rose Street, which is the street behind Princes Street, where you will find many pubs - although not many which show any football games.

Room Tip: There is a huge corner suite, however the bar Walkabout is below it, so if you are an early to bed p...

Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us on the Romance Package.
Our Romance package combines luxury accommodation with all the romantic essentials champagne on ice and chocolate coated strawberries in your room on arrival and romantic turndown service with scattered rose petals on the bed. There is no rush in morning
as you can enjoy your full Scottish breakfast in bed and take advantage of a late check-out at 12 noon. We are so glad you enjoyed it and everyone took good care of you.
I am sorry that you didn’t enjoy breakfast, we pride ourselves on the quality of our breakfast and we generally receive very positive feedback concerning this food and service. I am sorry that on this particular occasion you felt the breakfast was below a five star standard and your comments have been passed to our Food and Beverage manager to ensure that the quality of the breakfast is consistent and in keeping with a five star level. We look forward to welcoming you back.
