“Fantastic Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Reading some of the reviews and staying at this hotel has confirmed one thing....people just love to moan on trip advisor!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived at 12pm on the Saturday afternoon, a bit early of check in, so the receptionist took our bags for us. After some lunch we arrived back at 2pm and were shown to our room where our bags were waiting for us. The room had everything that we needed, with some added extras (such as a pre load iPod touch, hair straighter and dressing gowns) It also had one of the best mini bars I have seen in a hotel, and the price for the drink were the same as they were in the bar.

We went elsewhere for dinner, but returned to the bar at Ricks for some drinks at the end of the night. The bar had a great atmosphere, with excellent music. Yes the cocktails were a bit pricey...but what do you expect in Edinburgh, they were delicious!

We were in room 3, which was on the 1st floor, it didn’t have much of a view, but after looking at the hotel and its location we were not expecting one. The room was quiet and we were not woken by any noise from the street outside. The bed was very comfy!

It was also a lovely change to be told that we could have breakfast right up until 12pm on the Sunday morning and that it wasn’t your usual buffet breakfast. We both enjoyed our breakfast.

We would most defiantly return to this hotel.

Stayed at Ricks with friends 2nd February. Staff really helpful, kept our bags as we went out shopping and they were in our room on return. Rooms rely nice, comfy beds. Breakfast was superb and a great choice. Only thing I would do differently would be take room at the front as bottle collection arrived around 6.am so a bit noisy. Would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone. Once again thank you to the staff who were so willing to make your stay the best it could be.

Room Tip: Not rooms 8,9, 10 if like me you are a light sleeper as bin collection of bottles around 6.am can b...

“Loved this hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Fabulous little boutique hotel in a great location, just meters from all the best shopping and eating/drinking & just a stones throw across the bridge from Old Town.
I have nothing negative to say at all, we had a brilliant stay.
The room was huge, with an enormous, incredibly comfortable bed. Very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and all amenities at your finger tips.
After reading earlier reviews on the dustbin noises early in the morning, I was expecting to be woken in the early hours...though it seems this problem has been sorted out, as for the week we were there, they came each morning at around 9am - perfectly acceptable.

The biggest highlight of this hotel is the fantastic bar and restaurant!! Food and cocktails were of the highest standard at great prices, the service was constantly above and beyond and this made our whole stay thoroughly enjoyable.

I would absolutely stay at Ricks again! Very highly recommended.

“Any Room at the Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I was travelling to Edinburgh for a Client night out and we decided to eat at Ricks whilst my clients stayed at another hotel and i was a late addition the hotel that they stayed in was fully booked, so made sense to book a room at Ricks for ease and comfort on arrival i was greeted by a very friendly lady, i asked if i could leave my case there due to not being able to book in til late in the afternoon and this was at 10am she took my reference number and name and held my case. i returned to the hotel at around 6.30pm after a day of drinking at eating with my clients to be greeted again in a very friendly manner by Paula ( i think she is the manager ) so i asked if i could book in only to be told that they had no record of my booking ( booked through Expedia ) obviously i was a little purplexed as it was looking like i was sleeping in the street, Paula worked her little socks of to find me somewhere to stay but unfortunately all the local hotels were fully booked, so she said that there was a B + B next door and that they had room so after inspecting the room i accepted the room i would also like to mention the people that run the B + B as they were also very friendly and very helpful although in a normal would a lot of people would put this as a negative report i have to disagree as a ) it was booked through a third party ( so they should receive the negative remarks and b) both the hotel and the B + B bent over backwards to fix the issue i will definately be going back to Edinburgh and i will also book through the hotel direct and see what the hotel rooms are like

Room Tip: Book direct to make sure you get the room

“SIMPLY AMAZING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Just come back from a 2 night stay at ricks and are overwhelmed with how amazing this hotel was! Firstly the staff were extremely friendly, recommending good places to go out. Very quick service, both at the bar and in the restaurant. Food was incredible. Definately recommend the eggs benedict (poached egg to perfection). One tinsy minor room for improvement is the orange juice wasn't fresh.

The room was fantastic - had everything u need. Hair straighteners/hair dryer/tv/DVD/iPod and docking station for music. Really comfy bed and really stylish.

Will definately go back there and would highly recommend to anyone!
