“Terrible Disappointment!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

When we arrived we were shocked by the outside front of the hotel, it looks like a converted low income housing project. The hotel itself was out of a bad movie, one small elevator for the entire building the rooms all had paper handmade signs on the doors with the room numbers and a note they were being replaced soon. The rooms have a big can of Fabreze out for the guests (when I saw it I though the maid must have left it here by mistake but the others in my group all said they had the same can waiting in their room (disgusting). The bathroom is unbelievably small but that's not the worst part, it has the worst dirty feeling I've ever experienced. The tile floor was cracked, one towel had a big stain in the middle. Overall I had the worst feeling about the cleanliness of the room which left me feeling more than uncomfortable sleeping there. The pool is located in the center of the building and it looks nice from far (the photos on their website make it look like a completely different place).

Room Tip: stay in a different hotel!

“Really good, clean and a great low budget place to stay in the centre.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

I stayed for one night in April a couple of years ago and it was really easy to find from the main station (Waverley). It's just at the other end of Prince's street onto the road that is practically straight ahead and is probably one of the better hotels I ever stayed in when coming to Edinburgh around that time. The breakfast the next day I remember was very good, nice food and if you don't know Edinburgh well is an easy place to stay as you have the main street infront of you with all of the bus services about. The hotel itself was very pleasant, there is a really warm and comfortable feel to the lounge where all guests can go to and there is (or at the time, was) sky tv and a bar (i can't remember whether it was pricey but remember enjoying my drink). It isn't a fancy hotel, however if you're coming for a reasonably priced stay for a night or two (we booked last minute and got a cheaper price however, so i'm not sure if it is usually much more than we paid) then it is very pleasant to stay here. Especially convenient if you're travelling by train and plan to walk/use buses.

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2009

I stayed here for one night in January 2008 and can't fault it. Check in no probs, same as check out, they allowed us to store our bags in a safe place until we left. The rooms were clean and comfortable. And the breakfast in the morning was absolutely beautiful. Nothing to fault at all. And its right opposite the bus stop the take you to and from the airport and literally 2 mins from Princes Street, would def stay there again without a doubt.

“Okay for a few of days sightseeing...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

This hotel was pretty anonymous, fine for a few days sightseeing but absolutely zero wow factor. If all you want is a place to rest your head and forget about while you explore Edinburgh it's fine. But if you want a place to look forward to supplying atmosphere of an evening you'll have to go somewhere somewhat more expensive. But for location this one's certainly hard to beat, you're right next to Princes Street. Parking might be a problem unless you've plenty of dosh for a meter. Still, there are multi story car parks nearby. They're pricy too mind you.
