Stayed here for the 6Nations, staff were attentive, polite and happy to help. It has a relaxed atmosphere about it.
The room was spacious, modern and prestine.
The only feedback I would give would be: it'd be nice to have a complementary bottle of water in the room and a guide for the hotel (ie. restaurant open times....etc) and general tourist points for the town.
I hope The Place has a successful first year.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights over a long weekend. As all the other reviewers have said, it's a lovely, newly refurbished hotel with a modern style. The staff were all very friendly, and we got a great welcome, not to mention the excellent breakfast.

The room itself wasn't in the same building as the main hotel. We had to go next door, down a flight of stairs into a maze of rooms. To enter, there was a code which got annoying having to enter each time we arrived back at the hotel. The room was small, with just enough space for the furniture. And we had no windows, only a small skylight, which was slightly off-putting. That said, the bed was very comfortable, and we were hardly in the room as we were out in the city exploring.

Overall, we were happy with the value and location of the hotel. We would be happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend break to see Edinburgh.

We stayed in this newly updated and refurbished hotel in December 2011. It was a weekend theatre break and this hotel is only 200 metres from Edinburgh's Playhouse. Situated in York Place it is very close to the city centre. We booked the parking for the car and upon arrival I was given a key fob to allow access to the car private car park which is on the other side of the road and only a few minutes away.The reception staff were polite and promptly book us in and showed us to our rooms. The rooms were in the basement but were well appointed and comfortable. We had not booked breakfast which was an extra charge, but on seeing what the other guests were having I would definitely have it on another visit. We made the booking through an internet booking agency and it was good value for money. We would recommend it for night out or a weekend break in Edinburgh as it had everything you need without breaking the bank.I will stay there again next time in Edinburgh.

We stayed at this delightful hotel for three nights between Christmas and the New Year. It is situated within easy walking distance of Edinburgh's main attractions. We visited the Castle, Museum and National Portait Gallery and the shops are also close by. The hotel offers super accommodation. Our room was very clean and spacious and had tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfasts were excellent and the lighting in the bar area is stunning. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a super time and hope to stay here on our next visit to this lovely city.
