“Your Going to Love this New Addition To Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Hate to Admit this but Marriot have got this right to a T. It is in a great part of Town and you can walk most places. I have now stayed on 3 Occasions every time in a different room lay out.

You find Peters Yard close by and a small Sainbury's, underground parking.
Really warm, helpful team members. Enjoy!

Room Tip: GO HIGH! I dont know why

“Great new accommodation in Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Comfortable, clean and well located. This new addition to the Edinburgh hotel scene is adjacent to Edinburgh University and is walking distance to great restaurants and several theatres. Service is very friendly, breakfast is good and the prices are fair. I've stayed twice in the last month and there are still a few niggles associated with new buildings. One room I was given had a faulty lock (a new room was provided) and another had intermittent hot water in the shower. The single lift is busy at breakfast time, but overall this is a great choice in a very good location.

Room Tip: Some high rooms have good views. The lower floors mean no waiting for the lift.

“Great Hotel in a fantastic location in Edinburgh!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

This is a real nice new hotel in a great location in Edinburgh. We arrived into Edinburgh from our overnight flight from the U.S. We took a taxi from the Waverley train station because we did not know the exact location of the hotel, but believe me the next time we will just walk because it is only a 15 minute walk from the train station. When we arrived at around 9am the hotel lobby was packed with people having a celebration. Well we learned when came through the front door that it was the official grand opening!! It was no bother for the staff as they were so nice and took their time and checked us in to a nice room at 9am with no waiting for the official check in time of around 2pm or 3pm as a lot of hotels do. The rooms were very nice and good size compared to European standards. The location was fantastic for walking and exploring this amazing city. It was 10 minute walk to the Royal Mile and Castle, and a 15 minute walk to Princess Street and the Waverley train station. There is a Starbucks coffee shop right around the corner as well as a Sainsburys market for any groceries or beer and wine that you might want to pick up. They have a very nice breakfast that is always being attended to by the staff making sure the food is always hot and the coffee never runs dry. There is a nice pub just at the end of the street called Doctors that has some very nice ales. But best of all is the staff at this hotel. Always a smile and a hello now matter how many times you walk in that front door. That is one thing that I will always remember. They always had ideas for what you could do to explore their great city and I will be thankful for that, as I went to places that probably not too many tourists do because of their recommendations. I cant wait till I can return to Edinburgh and stay at this Residence Inn.

“New and clean hotel just south of historic Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

OK, so this is not the easiest hotel to find, and it may seem to be in a construction area, but overall, this was a nice new hotel. The hotel was spotless, and basically brand new. I have stayed in many Residence Inns in the states, and compared to them, this seemed to have smaller rooms, and no cook top stove, but did have a nice Bosch fridge, microwave and dishwasher. The breakfasts were great, and stocked repeatedly. The staff made every effort to find rooms for us Americans who showed up early after overnight flights, well before check-in, and I commend them for that. They did allow us to store our luggage while a room was prepared. Note that parking next store is quite expensive, about $28 a day. It is 20% cheaper if you get your ticket from the parking garage certified at the hotel, but make sure you do this before you leave the garage. (after parking). The location of the hotel was well within walking distance of the historic part of the city, and a Starbucks was less than a block away. The few negatives of the hotel included a small single elevator, pulsating hot/cold water in the shower (was on the 7th floor, and appears to happen when you try to get slightly colder than full hot water, occurred in two different rooms), as well as a business full of workers right next door that can peer in to your room as they work in a 7 floor building less than 100 feet away. The price was right and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If parking next door, make sure to get your parking ticket validated by the front desk of the hotel...

“Excellent New Choice For Edinburgh.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is a new hotel for Edinburgh, situated in a new development called Quartermile which is on the site of the old Royal Infirmary, just to the south of the city centre. Stayed in a one bed suite, with a kitchen which included a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Spacious living area and the bedroom had a very comfortable bed. My only slight negative about the room is the fact that the sink is outside the bathroom, and the toilet/shower room is a bit on the small side (but would not stop me booking again).Hotel has only 1 lift, but every time we pressed the button it came straight away, so no waiting around. Breakfast is served in a small area next to reception, and we were advised at check in that it can get manic from around 8.30 ( and we saw how busy it gets when we left the hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning at around 9.15 ), but we rise early and the 3 mornings we went down at around 8, there was plenty of space. Breakfast is cereal, fruit salad, pastries, toast, cold meats and a hot selection of bacon, sausages, eggs and beans.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Museum of Scotland,15 to the Royal Mile, and the surrounding area seemed nice. There is also a Sainsburys Local next door which comes in handy for picking up snacks and drinks. Finally the thing that made the Residence Inn stand out the most, was the staff. Very friendly check in, offering advice and a map and guide of Edinburgh, and then always a Hello or how is everything every time we passed reception, or saw a member of staff in the hotel, which compared to the attitude of the staff from another hotel in Edinburgh I stayed in before christmas, made for a very refreshing change. If like myself you want location, cleanliness, good value and good staff then the Residence Inn ticks all the boxes.
