“exellent weekend away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Just back today after a lovely weekend away with my hubby, the 2 nights cost me a total of £24 was the £12 specials after christmas,we had a family room with a kingsize bed,and a sofa couch with pull out,tea and coffee facilities, clean towels, room had ajustable heating, in the foir was 2 vending machines a ginger and a snack one, staff were extreamly helpfull 5 mins drive to main town and if you go in to the town you must go to lucas great food and cheap prices.

Room Tip: we were in room 110 so was a quick exit for myself to get a smoke outside

“OK if you get a cheap cheap deal...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

This hotel is pretty much the last part of an old service area which has now closed. The only thing here other than the Travelodge is the petrol station! The disused buildings are run down and boarded up and really don't make you feel welcome or safe on arrival. I wondered if the car would still be there in the morning!

The rooms are very old and unless you get this as part of a cheap deal I wouldn't pay anything extra. They're big and spacious but old and tired and desperately need doing up. However with the services as they are I just don't see any investment going into this place.... I wouldn't be surprised if they knock the whole place down in the not too distant future! The lady on reception was very friendly and welcoming and did the best she could to make our stay OK.

There's nowhere to get any food on site, other than a chocolate bar or pack of crisps in the petrol station so I would recommend spending the day out and each before you arrive later in the evening. When you do arrive though, go slow as you enter the services or you might miss it!!

“Free WI FI and you could overlook the shortcomings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Yes it could be called a tired place as some reviewers have written.
The Pluses
Cheap
Clean
Comfortable bed
Warm
Friendly staff
Light and quite spacious rooms.
Bath and shower

The Minuses
Some shabby furniture
The boarded up buildings look dreadfull
No where to eat
Badly illuminated approach
Badly signed

Despite the negatives we had three comfortable nights. What did annoy was with its somewhat run down appearance, you would have thought they would have thrown the wi fi in free. So Travel Lodge management if you read this a refund on that cost would be welcome, as more expensive and PLUSHER do give free wi fi, making the savings negated

“run down, but cheap and cheerful, could do with a refurb”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

Stayed in this hotel with family in order to travel to Edinburgh each day and for what we paid for the room and for it being a place to stay, it was not too bad.

It was clean and tidy and there were enough towels, staff were friendly. Yes it could do with modernising but with the attached amenities all shut down and boarded up I doubt this place will last much longer.

It does look a little daunting when you see all the boarded up half of the old service station but as I say was not bad at all for the price and for it just being a room to stay in.

“Appalling place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I've gone to Edinburgh and stayed in a variety of hotels in the city and around the outskirts for over a dozen years. This is without a shadow of a doubt the worst place to stay ever! Never any staff on reception, broken lock on door, pubes in the bath, moldy ceilings, filthy floors, dirty bedsheets, fag burned furniture, shabby, run down and a complete hole. I booked here meaning to go to the Premier Inn at Musselburgh. Biggggg mistake, one I will definitely never make again. You also can't ignore the broken lights, sytexed part of the "hotel" and the smell of nasty. You'd be better sleeping in a doorway on Princes street and spend the money you've saved on a day spa to freshen up in the morning. On the down side you might be a bit cold and smell of urine, which after staying at the Travelodge would be a step up. I complained as soon as I got home and they don't even have the decency to reply. Go anywhere else but here.

Room Tip: Premier Inn would be a good room to stay in if you want a nice, well appointed, clean room with good...
