Stayed midweek for an all-too-short break, coinciding with some very interesting weather. Echo all of john d's review about friendly reception and room qualities. No multi-gym or swimming pools but The Links is a really well appointed and scrupulously clean hotel in a very pleasant area close enough to the city centre but just far enough out. The food was first class, and beautifully presented. The staff are a real jewel in the crown, warm and welcoming, efficient and so helpful. They even offered to go online to give us a detailed up to date forecast on when the winds might abate and volunteered advice on things to see and do that would minimise the effect of the stormy weather. Chose the Links on a recommendation and so glad I did.

Only stayed here on saturday for a theatre break but wished we could have stayed for longer. Friendly welcome at reception then shown to our room instead of just being handed a key.
The double room was ideal, big, comfortable and clean with a large plasma tv. kettle etc and even an iron and ironing board. The large shower and toilet was spotless.
We made use of the bar area which was very comfortable with a nice ambience and good mixture of people. Bar prices were ok, average for the town centre and once again the staff very friendly and efficient. Our room was directly above the bar and overlooking the park but we never heard a sound and had a great nights sleep.
We never had dinner at the hotel but breakfast was very good with a good selection and big portions served again by very friendy, helpfull staff. Overall, very good, and after only one night we felt that we had a decent break away. Highly recommended.

I regularly travel and stay in hotels with my work. After being stranded in Edinburgh due to windy weather I found this hotel through late rooms at a price of £70 a steal for central Edinburgh. On arrival the gentleman on reception was just so helpful, the room was superb clean, contemporary and with everything you would possibly need and more such as free wifi, a well stocked hostess tray not the usual 2 tea bags and 4 milk jiggers, wonderful decor and a nice hot shower. The food was simple but well cooked and excellent value for money. The service was second to none, and genuine not the fake type you get in the large chains. I would highly recommend this hotel, it was definitely worth the short taxi ride from Haymarket station, I will stay again when in Edinburgh.

After trawling the web for a decent hotel to stay in Edinburgh I was looking at mainly 4 & 5 star hotels and ruling out many 3 stars, rightly so, after reading some damming 3 star reviews. However I was reluctant to pay extortionate prices and happened to come across the Links Hotel - priced at £109 for 2 people Inc. Breakfast. I booked it hoping I'd done the right thing as this was a surprise weekend for my partner and I wanted it to be good! It was excellent! Fantastic spacious room with large LCD tv above a huge marble fireplace, overlooking the park. Refurbished hotel is great standard and staff very helpful. Breakfast was fab! Full scottish and I mean full! We had PRE theatre meal and it was very good. Parking was on street but we were able to park directly opposite hotel so it wasn't a problem. Would certainly come here again.
