“If it weren't for the location of this B&B . . .”
We stayed in this B&B for 3 nights last summer. We too had trouble with their one guest computer by the wonderful window overlooking the algae-covered fire escape.
The breakfast room is lovely. It overlooks the back garden, but service is slow. They should have a toaster or two right in the room so guests don't have to wait so long for the runners to bring things down the hall. I'd asked for more toast and never got it one morning. The cook for the full "Scottish" breakfast didn't learn to cook from a Scot. Disappointing breakfast only available on their schedule. No sleeping late on holiday.
I enjoyed the description of the "day room with library". When we were there it was a two-chair room (no sofa), a TV, seven tourist books and a mini-fridge (the bar).
The "olde" Dunstane Hotel across the road has good lunch and dinner in the bar (excellent soups) and also a full dining room that we didn't use. Scots do not tip wait staff for food or beverage service.
The walls of the rooms appear to be quite thin as we could hear people talking (and snoring) in the next room.
The young men who are the "night staff" have a habit of sounding like they are talking to people in their old country without use of the phone which was attached to their heads whenever we saw them. Apparently they don't like to yell into their mobile phones inside their little hide-away-room and go into the hall and slam the door every time they do so. If we needed anything or had a question we had to go knock on the door next to the kitchen where the young men hang out and play on the computer and watch TV. They were never in plain sight.
When we went to bed one night there was a beeping every few minutes coming from the side garden (church side). I looked down but couldn't figure out what it was. It stopped after about an hour.
If it weren't on the airport and city bus route and walking distance to the Haymarket Station and have free parking I don't know if we would stay there again.
