Six Mary's was perfect! Jonathan was friendly and helped us plan our time in Scotland. We stayed 4 nights twin ensuite and decided to stay 3 more nights and do day trips from Edinbourgh. Luckily, Six Mary's could accommodate us with twin w/ private facilities for the extra nights.. There was a sink in the room so walking a few extra steps to the shower down the hall was not a big deal. The rooms included clean linen, terry robes, coffee, tea, a plug in fan and view of the garden. It was nice to have a top sheet on the bed. The other B&B's we stayed at did not have one. Also, internet with a printer in the relaxing lounge was convenient. Several mornings we left before breakfast hour. The staff told us to help ourselves to cereal, milk and even make coffee. They also stored our things so we wouldn't have to take everything with us while we traveled to other areas in Scotland. Stockbridge was a great location. It was located a 15min walk or 5 min bus ride to city centre and included several restaurants, shops, bakery, deli, ATM post office. The bus stop was located right across the street from Six Mary's. Stockbridge was a nice retreat from the busy areas and very safe. Six Mary's was a find! I can't say enough

Location versus price - v. good (15 mins walk to city centre)
Rooms - v. good (light, airy, clean)
Complimentary extras- excellent (including plasters for after all the walking)
Staff - helpful (volunteered to order taxi - carbon neutral)
Environmental and social policies - admirable**
** However, this is what leads to slow/erratic service at breakfast, so allow at least 1 1/4 hours and be prepared to repeat your order. Those with a social conscience are likely to have more patience.
Breakfast room - in need of TLC and a spring clean in the hard to reach places.

Me and my aunt stayed here for 3 nights as we came to Edinburgh to site see as I'd never been,very comfortable beds and lovely room only downside was the small shower.Breakfast was nice but we noticed they seemed to have new staff most mornings

I add my voice to others that say this is a special place with lots of nice extras, esp if you are interested in supporting green travel, are vegetarian. Lovely breakfast room and responsive staff, internet availability are pluses, as is the neighborhood with a pleasant walk to the main of the cultural attractions, It is a bit bigger than some B&B so may not quite as intimate as smaller B&B, so that might be a point for some travelers. Very much enjoyed my stay.
