“Nice place, worth staying at.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2011

Comfortable clean downstairs room, touch on the cramped side though; even had a complimentary nip of malt for those who indulge. Comprehensive attractions guide, handy enough for the centre by bus, although we found we could walk everywhere and needed to after the large good breakfast. Only drawback with that was that you had to preorder the cooked part (understandable), and tea or coffee (incomprehensible). That was the only drawback. We've stayed at 4 other places in Edinburgh and this was the best. More of a B & B than a hotel (which I would expect to have evening meals and a bar).

“It's all in the details”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

This is a great place to stay! The staff is friendly and helpfull but not intrusive. They had no problem at all with checking in late (after 11pm). The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom has enough room too. Our room had a nice view of the garden in which we could see many birds.
The breakfast is very nice and there are many options too choose from.
This B&B is also near a busstop and many nice restaurants so a perfect location. And the best detail: every day our decanter was refilled with a nice whisky liqueur and we also got some nice Scottish cookies!

“very good B&B, nice family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

The B&B is really great !!! We had a superb breakfast, everything was clean and well maintained. The location is ok, you have several busstops in the surrounding, the busses arrive every few minutes. The travel time to town is about 10-15 minutes, depending on, where you want to go. So we can recommend this house, we would come again !!!!!

“A warm, clean and welcoming stay..”

We would recommend the barony house for your stay in Edinburgh. We stayed in a first floor double en-suite which had a lovely large window which opened out to the rear of the house overlooking pretty gardens and roof tops. The rooms’ aspect was sunny in the mornings and shady in the evenings. The room itself had all the amenities you would expect and even two hair dryers! Plenty of storage and a couple of full length mirrors to check your shirt was tucked in! The bed was comfortable with plenty of sheets to keep you warm. There is a phone, TV (standard channels) and wi-fi access is available. There is also tea/coffee making facilities with lots of tea bags/coffee and drinking chocolate, not to mention the sherry!
Alcohol was permitted within the rooms for a glass of wine, with wine glasses provided. Hot food is not permitted but there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. We enjoyed a very good meal at “The New Bell”. There was plenty of useful information to read both in the room and at the entrance.
Breakfast was a treat with a hot buffet which was pre-ordered. There was fresh juice, good croissants and cereals and fruit to start and a ‘full Scottish’ to follow if you wished. The coffee was of the good and strong variety which I personally liked.
The B&B was very well placed to get into the centre of Edinburgh, or to the Stadium if you were going to a game at Murrayfield. It takes 10 minutes on the bus to Princes Street. There are plenty of busses available, an adult day ticket for unlimited travel for the day only costs £3 (02-2011) so is very good value, and regular with busses almost every 10 minutes.
We very much enjoyed our stay and would book again, many thanks to Leo and Susie.
