“Great value for money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I have always believed that you cannot go far wrong with a (good) Premier Inn. Sure, some of them are starting to show their age somewhat but Premier Inn as a chain of hotels is one of the better at ensuring their stock is kept up-to-date, offering a good, comfortable base at a very reasonable price. The Premier Inn at Edinburgh Airport (Newbridge) is no exception; in fact, it excels.

I chose this hotel for an overnight stay after a long drive up from the south of England to get a good nights sleep before heading into Edinburgh city centre the next morning. For me, it made perfect sense staying out of the city centre and the location is excellent offering easy access from the M8, it is then only around 15 minutes into the centre of Edinburgh. Of course if you’re looking for an overnight on the way to the airport, it’s an even more obvious choice.

The hotel itself is very new; certainly less than a year old, so has all the facilities you’d expect including automatic check-in using self-service terminals, vending facilities and a reasonable quality restaurant and bar. The rooms themselves are of reasonable size and have a flat screen TV and desk, the bathroom having both a bath and shower. Of course the bed is a good size and is very comfortable; no complaints from me and I am fussy!

All in all a very comfortable nights stay for less than £50; if I had to try and find fault I would suggest that the staff in the lobby were slightly too eager to help, when choosing to use the self-service checkout it’s probably because you are quite comfortable checking in yourself and do not want to be asked 3 times if you need assistance; no, I’m fine thank you!

Finally, yes the hotel is located not far from the threshold of the runway (check Google Maps) but this did not prove to be an issue. The hotel has triple glazing throughout and, the airport itself does not operate too late into the evening for scheduled flights. I didn’t find the noise in any way obtrusive.

“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the weekend as we were going to the Rugby at Murrayfield, we left it late to book and were struggling to find a hotel in the City centre however this turned out to be perfect. Although its not the City centre it was only around 15-20 min on a bus to Murrayfield (and not much longer to the city centre) and the buses were frequent enough for it not to be a hassle.

The hotel is lovely, still looks new and the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was on the first floor which was handy and it was clean, comfortable, nice size, good shower and we were never bothered by the planes taking off nearby, I quite enjoyed seeing them fly overhead. We had a drink at the bar which was reasonably priced but we didn't eat in the restaurant, although they did serve pizza slices (as a rugby special) a nice touch I thought. There is also a McDonalds a short walk away.

The only downside we found is that there is hardly any phone signal (could sometimes get enough signal for calls and texts but not for 3G etc.) and you have to pay for the WiFi however this was not a major issue.

It was a little more expensive than normal however everywhere is on rugby weekends, would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others

“Good hotel, wrong location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This Premier Inn describes itself as an 'airport hotel' but there is no shuttle bus from the airport to the facility and the taxi, when it eventually comes, is £11. We waited for 40 minutes with 30 or so other people outside in -6C temperatures having just got off the plane from Athens. The hotel itsel is new, clean and excellent as a place to sleep and have a hearty breakfast. However, it's in the middle of an industrial estate so it's yet another taxi into the city centre of a half mile walk with suitcases to the nearest bus stop. So, and to sum up, nice hotel when you eventually get there but expensive, time consuming and annoying to get to and from the place. Won't be staying there next time!

“Great way to start a holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel prior to flying out to Tignes for a weeks skiing. The hotel was completed in March 2011 and still has that new built feel. Easy remote kiosk check in system but don't worry there is a freindly staff member on hand should you prefer a more traditional check in. The room was very clean and well presented with everything you would need for a short stay. These ate in the restaurant and can recommend the curry. The meal deal for £22 a head is worth every penny. The breakfast is an all you can eat which is freshly cooked for you. Which is a nice touch. Definitely recommend.

“great base for exploring aound edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

we booked this as a base for exploring around edinburgh its about 5 miles from the town centre and its near the airport of which they do fly over the hotel which did'nt bother us and my daughter enjoyed watching them and we did'nt hear anything at night the room had triple glazing,we too found it a bit tricky to find as it is a new building, but when we did it was well worth it the staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble i asked for extra tea and it was no problem. The room was comfortable and very clean ,& modern we had a family room with a king size bed and a single bed and there was everything you need, tea ,coffee etc tv with freeview, hairdryer, soap dispensers, fresh towels, and you can control the temperature of the room. if you need the wiifi you do have to pay a charge for it.The room was cleaned everyday we stayed for four days. The resturant was of a lovely decor and friendly staff & the meal was very nice.£12.50 for two courses. We also had full breakfast which is £7.99 but you can eat as much as you like and there's plenty of choice, kids go free.We manged to get it for £29 a night which is fanstastic value and its comfy& friendly and clean what more could you want for that price??? I would definetly stay here again if we are in the area.
