Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Recomended

This was a nice hotel. It has clearly been recently refurbished and the rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. Location is pretty good for the city centre. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The only real downside - and the reason for this average rating - was the price. It cost £143 a night, room only - which for a 3 star hotel, with no real facilities, was excessive. Worth a go if you can get it for a decent price.

I was looking to spend a relaxed evening in Edinburgh between business trips; Edinburgh City Hotel proved to be a great find. The exterior resembled the historic nature of the city while inside it was clear that the place was clean, tidy and oozed Scottish charm. Bedroom was more than adequate with comfortable bedding, a flat screen television and modern bathroom. Some healthy fruit mixed with a Scottish fry in the morning meant that Sunday started well!

*Management had some excellent suggestions for local bars and restaurants.

A lovely welcome from reception when we arrived and in the short time we were at the hotel, whoever was on duty, gave us first class attention and help.

Although all staff were extremely helpful, we had most contact with staff serving breakfast and dinner, both of whom were exceptionally professional in the service they offered but at the same time "human" in their approach. They remembered who were were and what we liked. Brilliant!

Our room was lovely and spacious and if we ran out of anything e.g. tea bags, milk etc., we only had to ask. A lovely short break and we would definitely return.
