Despite phoning them in the early hours of the morning, The Ben Doran were able to accommodate us. We received a warm welcome and we were allocated the basement room which really is lovely. Huge room with really comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, WI FI and en suite. It was perfect! Breakfast was very enjoyable and the staff and owners were very attentive. Overall, a very short but very pleasant stay.

The rooms are clean but a little cramped and the decor felt very dated. We had a room on the front and so traffic noise was apparent through the night. The owners/ managers were very friendly and helpful. The guest house is in a good location, only 5 minutes by taxi to Waverly and has car parking which is a bonus. The breakfast was very poor so recommend finding a good cafe in town instead. Overall not bad though.

We were looking a good base to explore Edinburgh and for this the Ben Doran was ideal for the price we wanted to pay.

We were located on the top floor, our room was clean and benefited from an on suite (Some rooms have shared bathrooms). Our room would defiantly benefit from a renovation I would say the décor was at least 4 years old. The beds were on the soft side but nothing too bad.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel, it was cooked to order, hot nothing spectacular but nothing bad either.

Parking, looking at the hotel picture there are only 4 spaces, so we made sure we arrived early to get a space.

The main reason we chose this hole is the location, the heart of the city centre is a mere 30 min walk, or 15 min bus ride away, perfect.

Rooms at the ben doran are of a good size, clean and beds are extreamly comfy. we had tea and coffee making facilities in our room and a tv with freeview. Our en suite bathroom was small but very funtional with power shower. the room was also cleaned daily bed being made, rubish taken ect. breakfast at the ben doran was a buffet but everything was fresh and hot plenty to choose from. the owner extreamly helpful and friendly thoughout our stay. thank you for a lovely stay we shell be back in 2012.
