A lovely comfortable stay in great surroundings reflecting the premium price of the rooms. The location isn't really central for the shops and attractions but it's all within walking distance if you're fit enough. 2 mins up onto the Royal Mile but 10mins to the busy part and 20mins to Princes Street or Grassmarket.

Leave the car at home if you can as it's £20 overnight parking and at £17.50 for a small cooked breakfast (plus cereals and the usual) I'd forget it next time and go to one of the many cafes that are within spitting distance.

We went for a one night break - the staff were fantastic - very attentive. The room was a standard double and was lovely - very warm with a fantastic large and comfortable bed. Large flat screen TV on an arm. There was a dirty mark on one wall which had clearly been where a shoe had scuffed it - but it just needed cleaned off- we did feel this should have been addressed as should the dirt between the bath taps and the bath - I know these are just small details but this is a 4*hotel in a cosmopolitan city where tourists are everything to the economy.

We went for the spa facilities and to chill out - the spa as has been stated in other reviews is very tired and in need of an overhaul. This is a shame as the staff were lovely. We would mention though if this is being promoted as it is as a spa 'hip hop/rap' music blaring out in the pool/sauna/steam area is not acceptable. It chased us out of the steam room very quickly as was especially loud there. Please consider as to why guests are visiting the spa- we want rest and relaxation- if we wanted blaring music we would have chosen an 18-30's holiday!!

We ate in the grill room at night and can only say our meal was lovely. The bar staff and service were excellent and to those complaining about the price of drinks maybe they should be reminded they are in a City Hotel next to Parliament in a very beautiful part of the world.

all the staff from front desk,concergie,porter,housekeeper and breakfast staff were so friendly ,courteous and helpful.
Made our stay here a pleasure.

Elegant hotel, clean rooms and very good breakfast. Gym available. Have stayed here several times, in different rooms and we have always found the stay comfortable.
