“Fab Weekend, Excellent Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed here over the weekend, excellent facilities, staff and service, it was a pleasure and I’ll definitely return on my next visit. Location was unreal...so central

We had a family room and it was huge..Views were not great, but that was okay, we were not there to stay too long in the rooms, rather get out and about... Rooms were lovely, warm, clean very comfortable..Housekeeping staff were so helpful when we asked for extras, ie blankets and towels etc. Rooms were warm, but not too stuffy, excellent selection of coffees, teas etc.. Loved the fact I could have cup or mug, small thing but huge touch I felt...!

Breakfast was stunning as with all Radissons there was huge selection. Was a little disappointed the first day with slowness of service aka my poached eggs, never turned up, but staff were very apologetic and rectified situation following morning.

Used the pool on two occasions, was little disappointed here again with the lack of lifeguard, I'm a well able swimmer but at one stage there was 3 minors (U16) left unattended in the pool.. Bar facilities at night were great, lovely atmosphere.. Staff at reception desks were again very attentive and welcoming.. Made a huge difference...

On our last morning there was a small issue with fire alarm and fire brigade and I would like to acknowledge excellent service by all involved in getting residents out in a calm and relaxed manner, training seems to be of a priority and worked flawlessly...all staff were very comfortable and immediately put the emergency evac plan into place.. It was a pleasure to watch..

Would definitely return and would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Edinburgh...

Dear Guest

Many thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of your recent stay with us. I was really pleased to read the many positive aspects, but in particular your comments about the room and our attention to detail caught my eye.

I was also pleased to read your comments about our efficient handling of the fire alarm and that you felt safe and that it was a controlled evacuation.

Regarding our pool, we are not required to have a permanent life guard on duty to supervise the pool, however all of our staff working there are trained in first aid and more than capable of dealing with any situations that arise.

Thank you for recommending us to other travellers and I look forward to welcoming you on your next trip to Edinburgh.

Kind regards

Malcolm

“hotel in great place-just not for me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

My partner booked the hotel as a surprise and I was really impressed with the building when we arrived. It looks really grand. the receptionist was pleasant if a little staged in in his welcome 'speech'- gave us info on meals etc. Room was a decent size but we found it dark and rather drab. The bed was large, little too hard for our taste. It was very clean tho with usual tea making tray and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was ok nothing fantastic-especially as its expensive.. we didnt eat in the hotel at night as there are plenty cheaper places to eat just minutes away from hotel door so cant comment on evening meals.Room service was toooo slow! For what my partner paid for a 2 night stay we wouldnt go back-expected better service and value for the cost.
Once i knew we were coming to the hotel I read reviews on here and was surprised that the manager didnt reply to the couple of negative ones.....

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back-the reviews are right,it is noisy at the front

Dear Guest

Thank you for your recent review, I was disappointed to read that on
this occasion we did not make your stay with us memorable for the right
reasons. Thank you for your comments regarding the lighting in the
room, this is something that we will be addressing as part of an ongoing
refurbishment programme. I was surprised to read your comments about
your breakfast with us as this is something which other guests regularly
compliment us on. Thank you for highlighting the many choices for
eating and drinking near the hotel I am sure that other travellers will
find this useful and informative.

I appreciate your feedback too regarding the speed of room service and
will be discussing this with the Food and Beverage manager in due
course. I am disappointed that you do not feel you would stay with us
again and I am confident that we would be able to deliver a better guest
experience on your next visit. You may sometimes see a delay in my
responses to reviews as I fully investigate issues raised before I
respond, however you should see that all reviews do get a response,
whether positive or negative.

Kind regards

Malcolm

“Loved this Hotel”

I loved my stay at the Raddison. The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming. I stayed in the standard room and it was very large, clean and nicely decorated. I had a hot buffet breakfast included and it was very yummy- had everything you could ask for at breakfast including smoked salmon, haggis and black pudding. The location of the hotel was perfect- right in the centre of the beautiful old town. I would defiantly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Edinburgh.

“Great location but noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This is a nice hotel in a great location that deserves 4/5 but beware of possible noise disturbance from the club near-by.
It doesn't close until 3AM, including week days, and the clubbers are hardly quiet when they leave. The music is constant and clear. The Hotel have put up secondary glazing but if you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you.

Dear Guest

Many thanks for your review, thank you for highlighting our convenient location in the centre of Edinburgh. I was of course disappointed that your stay was affected by noise.

As you may have read in my previous responses, we have taken all the steps we can within the hotel to minimise noise, including the installation of secondary glazing and offering rooms that are higher up and towards the rear of the hotel.

We are also working closely with the Council environmental health officials and the local Police to tackle this issue, but much of this is without our control, although we continue to exert our influence where we can.

I do hope that you would consider staying with us again and I look forward tio welcoming you when you do.

Kind Regards

Malcolm

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

Centrally situated on on Royal Mile close to most of the attractions. We stayed 2 nights and had a comfortable room on 5th floor. Did not eat in hotel so can't comment on the dinning facilities. Would definitely stay here again.
