“Great place for a weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

My partner and I have just returned from here for a weekend away, and found it to be fantastic. Yes, there are construction works going on (due to finish in March) but they didn't interfere with our stay at all. We had a castle view club room, which was clean, spacious and on the top floor so quiet and uk disturbed. Floor 5 seems to be used as a thoroughfare to the spa so wouldnt recommend that! Club lounge was OK (good canapés in the evenings and breakfast choice was good even at the end of the serving time). Spa was relaxing and didn't feel busy at all - although they did recommend we go down beforehand and check how busy it is before booking in, definitely a good idea on the weekends. The only minor complaint was the lack of signs both to the hotel and around the hotel and spa - confusing at times, non-existent at others! Overall though, a great hotel in a perfect location.

“Lovely decor and excellent customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed at the hotel for a little Valentine treat. The modern decor of the room was lovely and very comfortable. Room was peaceful despite hotel being in the city centre and undergoing renovations. Hotel is big and signage not very good. Made use of the pool and thermal suite which was rather good although very busy on a Saturday. Also had to pay £30 each extra to use thermal suite (steam rooms, saunas, rooftop pool). The room just comes with access to the swimming pool, cleopatra baths and gym, unless it is a club room.

Dinner at Santini's restaurant was outstanding. Breakfast was average although plenty of choice.

Customer service is very attentive and friendly. However was not told about concierge parking despite phoning prior to arriving to enquire about disabled parking. The concierge will park your car in the car park if asked but we weren't told about it until after parking. Luckily found a space but the spaces are very tight and not usable if plenty space is required for getting in and out of the car. Again, signage here was poor.

Overall an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Check spa access with room type.

“Great Hotel, esp the Club Floor, will be amazing post renovation!”

My husband and I stayed here for New Years 2012 and we really liked it. I'll be brief about the construction issue since it should be over soon but it does put a damper on the high end experience. The lobby "trailer" was fine in my opinion, the real down side was the two elevators to get to our floor and the extra walk around the whole big block to get the the temporary door (esp in the harsh, windy winter). The staff went above and beyond though and the little touches like baskets of umbrellas (a must there) were great.

That aside, I highly recommend the club floor with the free breakfast since it is very good for a hotel club floor breakfast and the club room is very nice and modern. The room was modern and wonderful, the bathroom especially. We had once room without the castle view and then changed to one with the castle view and the view is really spectacular. Not sure if it is worth the additional price each night but for a free upgrade, worth moving for. We didn't do the spa but it looked nice, I would say 3/4 star nice, not 5 star - Four Seasons, Ritz, nice. (but we just looked). The location is great but in the dead of winter, I would have personally preferred to be closed to the Old Street strip like where the Hotel Missoni is since we were up there every day anyway and less walking in harsh conditions. We were there for the Hogmanay festival (highly recommend!!!) and cabs were the most expensive I have ever seen in all my travels, outrageous ($15USD for a 5 min drive). So, walking distance was key that time of year and the Sheraton was just ok for the sights we wanted to see like the Museums, the Old town streets, Harvey Nicols department store, stops for the on/off tourist bus. For theater, it is ideal as we saw a symphony right across the street! Overall, would recommend this hotel, we would stay here again esp in Spring/Summer and try to get a good deal on it.

Room Tip: Modern room for sure, castle views are very nice if you value a good view (our other room had no vie...

“Very attentive staff with excellent service skills”

I stayed in this hotel for the England - v - Scotland Rugby match over a very cold weekend. The hotel was nearing a major refurb. The rooms and main areas were all done to a very contemporary italian style. The bedrooms have the bathroom with glass walls and 4 doors work as 2. So although very well thought out from a design point of view they dont offer much privacy for doing ones personal business ! Beds absolutely the most comfortable. Warm and very clean and new. The spa was great with steam, turkish and suna rooms - outside swim pool on the room. Good central location. Excellent breakfast.
