We stayed as a couple for 3 nights in February 2012. The hotel was very easy to find, and the free car parking was excellent. Check-in was fast and we were given a room on the ground floor.
Location - We reasoned this was about as close to central Edinburgh we could stay without paying lots for parking. It's a 10 minute bus ride or 25 minute walk to the centre of the city. For buses, leave the hotel and cross Craigmillar Park road, there's about 8 different buses that stop there which means you never have to wait long for one. (Single £1.30, dayticket £3.20). There is also Cameron Toll shopping centre across the road, which not only has a large Sainsburys, but is in fact a large shopping mall with good choice of shops, if you need anything (and a Greggs for breakfast :-) )
Rooms - Standard Travelodge. Ok bed (our double was in fact 2 singles pushed together), TV, Tea and coffee facilities, decent shower. Hotel is reasonably new so no complaints here.
Food - did not eat here, but menu and prices as per any other travelodge. Seemed to always be someone in the restaurant/bar though.
Staff - very efficient, polite and friendly.
The only negative we could find was that we just couldn't get any mobile phone reception in the hotel. Maybe this was the ground floor room, but we would sooner go outside in the cold than pay Travelodge £6 for an hour of Wifi!!
Overall, if you're not fussed about staying in the centre of Edinburgh and want free parking for your car, this is a good place to stay. Made even better given that the room cost us £19 a night!
As mentioned elsewhere on here, we had a room facing the rear carpark, which was very peaceful.
