“Cheap,basic and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Just got back from a weekend away with my boyfriend staying Friday to Sunday. This is a no frills, budget hotel so if you dont expect anymore then you won't be disapointed. We paid £27 for a 2 night stay in this hotel so we really could not complain! The hotel is in a brilliant location, just less than a ten minute walk from the train station. Also their is a Wetherspoons just a 1 minute walk away which sells cheap alcohol and really nice food. Overall we will definatley be back for a cheap and cheerful stay!

“Ideal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We have stayed many times in the other central travelodges in Edinburgh but always avoided Rose Street as we thought it might be a bit noisy at night being on such a busy street full of bars.
However we got a good deal for the 5th and 6th of January and decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was large and comfortable on the top floor and very peaceful at night although I have to admit Edinburgh was very quiet at this time of year anyway.
We had read the comments regarding the fishy smell and it was very strong in the corridors but thankfully not present in our room.
I would definitely book this travelodge again as we loved the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up away from the street.

“Fab central location”

Stayed for just one night, was in a great location for main shopping/eating/going out areas. Was a great price. Room had full facilities and was clean and tidy. The room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor, and right in the corner, it was HUGE! Could have fitted another double bed in and still have space, only small problem was that the room was roasting hot and we couldnt get a window open. Other than that, no troubles and reception desk were friendly and helpful.

“What more could you want?”

My first visit to Scotland and after two days in Glasgow stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas. Good choice. Right in the middle of the town, all the shops (literally) on your doorstep. Sainsury's on the corner, McDonalds 2 minutes away for breakfast (or the excellent Filling Station opposite the hotel). Desk staff couldn't have been more attentive or helpful - thanks to the two guys/lady concerned. Room (206) was enormous; big enough to hold a U2 concert in. Only downside is it being above the fish restaurant and the smell permeats throughout the place, but what the heck. The price is right, the rooms are great (tea & coffee making facilities was a nice touch) and the location just couldn't be beaten. Hey, unless you're one of the picky types who frequent these review sites looking for 5 star perfection in a budget hotel, what's not to like? I'm certainly coming back in the New Year to see more of the place and no prizes for guessing where my base will be...

Room Tip: Ask if any of the rooms are not affected by the Restaurant problem.
