Just read a review of this place by a lady from Aberdeen which more or less mirrors our experience. I travelled to Edinburgh with my husband in August 2009, to meet up with some old friends to go to the Tattoo and booked into 11 Belford Place. We were met on our arrival by lady kinross who told us that cooked breakfast was " off " because she had a bad leg and didn't want to drop it. The house was very nice but did have a strong odour of dog ( we like dogs, but bath ours to prevent this happening )
Our breakfast the next morning was very disappointing......cereal,fruit,make your own toast and disgusting, greasy, microwaved croissants.....they would have been fine if only put in the oven for ten minutes. Lady kinross did manage to carry hot pots of tea and coffee......cant see the difference between that and a plate of cooked breakfast?
We returned back one evening and went into our friends room for a chat only to have a knock on the door and were told to be quiet. Its a long time since we've been accused of being noisy as we are all in our 60's and it was well before midnight.
We stayed for two night at £100 per couple....£400 in total...very expensive for what we got. Lady kinross seemed as if she couldn't be bothered with us and only showed any interest when we were paying up to leave. We felt that she knew accommodation was at a premium in Edinburgh in August and we could take it or leave it.......next time we'll leave it and stay somewhere else!!!.
