“Excellent and very clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

We are a married couple from Malta. We stayed for 11 nights at Duthus Lodge and I don't regret our choice. The place was very clean, the owners marvellous and we loved Bracken the dog. It is located not very far away from the centre and the bus stop is just outside. The rooms are very nice and Cake paid attention to every detail when cleaning the room . We had a very nice holiday and Murdo and Kay were always there to help out with our questions, very nice people. Wish to visit Edinburgh again.

“Loved it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

Stayed at this B&B only for two nights but could have stayed longer!!!!... The rooms were spotlessly clean made possible by the housekeeper who is Thai and obviously takes a great pride in her work... The rooms were modern and inviteing on a cold Edinburgh night... The owner was so friendly and helpfull and told a great story!!.... Breakfast was delicious and very Scottish and sets you up for a day of sightseeing in this most beautifull of cities..... Would recommend the Duthus Lodge in a heart beat... Thanks to Mordo & Cake (Thai Housekeeper - Yummy!!)

“Great little hotel with amazing Scottish breakfast”

Great little hotel with great access to downtown either via bus (only 1/2 block away) or walking (about 30 minutes). About 10 minutes away from Haymarket train station.
Very clean with very friendly owners. They stored our luggage in their apartment while we went out for a walk before catching the train.
Fresh cooked Scottish breakfast served to your table included!!
Only problem was connecting to the wireless Internet. Could not manage to get connected.

“Probably the cleanest Hotel I have ever stayed in!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We stayed for 1 night in this beautiful period house, converted into a Hotel. Our room was really tastefully decorated, and scrupiously clean. The bed was very comfy, and we had everyhting we needed. The owner Murdo was really informative, and made us feel really welcome... it was like a home from home. Bracken the dog added to the pleasurable experience we had. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and we cannot wait to return. We will definately stay here again, and would recommend to everyone. Its really nearly town as well, so very handy for the shops and attractions.

“A great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

My partner and I stayed at Duthus for three nights and just loved it. It was far enough from the city center that we were able to escape the hoardes of August tourists, but close enough that a bus or taxi ride (or a 15 minute walk) got us to downtown. Murdo and his wife are delightful and their service was outstanding. They are very relaxed - almost to a point of confusion for us (uptight) American tourists.

We took the Air Link bus right from the airport - it lets you off a house away from Duthus. The buses are easy and affordable, and I wish we would have taken advantage of them instead of doing the walk as often as we did. Very close to Haymarket Station too, which we took to London. The restaurant at the B & B next door is another plus in terms of location.

The room was comfortable, the bath was roomy and the shower warm with lots of water pressure. Breakfast was filling and the coffee was delicious. Bracken (the English bulldog at Duthus) was a great addition to the warmth of the place and helped us feel less home-sick. I would go back to Duthus Lodge in a heartbeat!
