Having left Edinburgh in 1978, my wife and I decided to revisit old haunts and 'do the tourist bit' and visit the sights that we had not bothered with when we lived there. We left the car and travelled to Edinburgh by train from Aberdeen and we could not have chosen a more convenient location. An easy five minute stroll from Waverley and we were at the apartment. Key pick up was straightforward and the apartment itself was all that previous reviews have stated: spectacular views, very clean and immaculately kitted out.
As a central point for visiting the sights, the apartment cannot be beaten. Having arrived just after lunchtime, the first afternoon we visited Gladstone's Land a two minute walk round the corner on the High Street before a stroll down the Royal Mile. Over the next three days we took in the newly opened Chambers Street Museum, the Georgian House, visited Mary King's Close under the City Chambers, toured Holyrood Palace, my wife fitted in some retail therapy and we still had time to visit the Museum of Childhood on the Royal Mile on the morning we left to catch the train home ! All of the above are within easy walking distance - no car needed !
I would recommend the apartment in the most positive terms. Very good value for the money, given the price of hotel rooms in central Edinburgh - and with much more room !
