The best thing about Botanics B&B is the friendly and very helpful host (Eleanor). I was impressed when she gave me a list of 7-8 B&Bs when hers wasn’t available for the dates I had initially asked for. We eventually changed dates and stayed at her nice home near the Royal Botanic Gardens. We chatted so much about our travel exploits and she came up with so many suggestions for remote places to visit in Scotland :).
There were absolutely no rules and we also had full access to the kitchen which we could use anytime of the day. No breakfast timings (Edinburgh was the last leg of our 10 day Scotland trip and this was the only B&B with no timings for breakfast!) – but then don’t expect a Scottish breakfast as in other B&Bs around Scotland.
Botanics is situated out of the touristy central area but is easily accessible by bus (short ride) and is also just a 5 min walk from Stockbridge which is a lively area with a bunch of restaurants. The room is not an ensuite and comes with a shared bath (always clean) and is good for a couple or single travelers. The house is nicely decorated and has quite a few small things adding to Eleanor's personal touch. All the basic necessities are taken care of.
Loved the place and would definitely visit again.
PS: If you have a car, note that you can park your car in front of the house for free on the weekends but during the week, it is paid (and is for a maximum of 4 hours). But you can move to a free parking area not too far away.
