This was my first ever B+B experience and even though I'm not sure if I will choose these types of accommodations again, the host Bill, could likely make a convert out of anyone.

Our room, on the top floor, was comfortable, clean and a good value.

The location was close enough to all major attractions including the Royal Mile, the palace, Arthur's Seat and Princes Street, but far enough away that your walks to and from will take you through residential neighborhoods that you probably wouldn't otherwise venture into.

Breakfast in the house dining room with the other guests was a unique experience and it was delightful to get there advice and recommendations on points of interest and which shows to take in and avoid (we were there for the Fringe Festival) was an added bonus.

Bill is a gracious host and qualified guide.

Highly recommended if you're looking for a reasonably priced B+B in a central location, look no further.

.We stayed at Garlands in mid September for three nights prior to a driving holiday and another on our return and can say without a doubt this was the best B&B we have stayed at.The B&B was spacious and charming but the best feature was Bill,s easy going friendly manner.His subtle humour at breakfast set a happy relaxed feel for a lovely start to the day.There were a number of local Scottish guests who were regulars and that says a lot . If I am able to return to Edinburg from Australia again I would have no doubt where I would stay .Kerry and Glenn

We stayed at the Garlands in early August with our three teenaged children. Bill was a very warm, friendly host and was great with our kids. The breakfast was excellent, the best we had at B&B's in the UK. He makes especially good porridge! It was an easy, short trip downtown on the bus. We highly recommend the Garlands.

The welcome was warm, the room very clean and very comfortable, and the breakfast fantastic. Bill the host was enthusiastic and full of local knowledge. I have stayed in Edinburgh many times but this was the best - look no further!
