“Rugby weekend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We booked 3 rooms, 2 of which were ok! Our room was on the lower ground floor. Outside our window we had the outside ashtray area for a view. People outside smoking, every word was audible. Above us we had footsteps up and down the stairs and accross the reception area. Bed was one of those that one partner gets in and the lighter of the two drops into the middle. Very pricey £114 due to the fact that they were fleecing all of those wishing to stay for the rugby!! Not a great experience, wouldn't ever stay again. Was akin to staying (I would imagine) in an open prison.... Lucy Tregear.

Room Tip: Request you are not on the LG floor!

“good value for money but don't expect the lap of luxury ( or guaranteed sleep!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This is in a nice old Georgian townhouse a short walk ( maybe 5 minutes?) from haymarket station. The rooms are clean... could do with a lick of paint. It looks like an old B&B or student lodgings that has been converted. The furniture is functional. The lift and the bar are noisy with revellers enjoying the edinburgh nightlife and so if you can get a room away from those areas you may get a better night's sleep. My friends were knackered after a sleepless night as their (very spacious) room backed onto the bar. There is tea and coffee making facilities and the staff are helpful... although the receptionist did tell us there was left luggage at haymarket station and there isn't ( it is at waverley station) There is no left luggage facilities at the hotel. Check out is midday. All in all great value for money ( if you book ahead for 19 quid for a double you really can't say it's not brilliant value) There is pub grub at the bar.. we didn't eat there so I cannot comment.

“Basic but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Travelodge is what it is...basic. This room and the common area was clean. There was food available as well as a bar. Not fine dining, but decent grub. The staff were friendly and had some good advice about places to see. They recommended local attractions and pubs. It's just a short walk to the center of Haymarket.

“maintenance problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We have stayed in this travelodge (and many others) in Edinburgh many times and, although the cleanliness and comfort of the facilities was not in question the maintenance of the fabric of the hotel was definitely poor. Room 101, which is the biggest hotel room I have ever seen, had 3 victorian candleabras each with 8 bulbs. Of these only four in total were working, the electric radiator was hanging off the wall and the socket it was plugged into was also loose. I can't , in all honesty, complain about the price (15 pounds per room per night through the sale) a bargain in anybody's book but I am really fond of this hotel and it would take just a little care to bring up to a good standard. Please! a good maintenance person would be a great asset.

“Nothing Wrong with this hotel.”

When i read the review of this hotel i was worried at what i may have let myself in for, however the hotel was much better than expected. The hotel contains everything you would expect from a travelodge and has all the basic amenities one would require when staying overnight in Edinburgh. The location of the hotel is also in a good position, 5-10 minute walk from Princes Street/Central Edinburgh and 5 minute walk from Haymarket Rail Station.
