“Nothing Special at All”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Abbotsford is a truly lovely building.....apart from that it's a basic, and very expensive, B&B in a fairly run-down part of the City ( walking into town really doesn't feel too safe )

Room was very small, bathroom very cramped and room was boiling hot even when the radiator was switched off by us as the radiator stayed on until the whole house went off ( No, I don't get that either )

Room exceptionally clean and well-stocked with tea, coffee etc. The much-praised Paola was pleasant but, for someone apparently born and bred in Edinburgh, knew very little about it and advice on how to get to places was dodgy to say the least ( and patently inaccurate in one case )

Breakfast was perfectly OK if nothing special. Overall, a very expensive B&B for what you get and where it is

“I will definitely be returning to this one.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

Enjoyed a long weekend at this guest house. The room was very clean and boy, does Paola do a good breakfast. Access to Princes Street is about a 20 minute walk but there is an excellent bus service. Next time in Edinburgh we will definitely be returning.

“Lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2009

We stayed at the Abbottsford for 3 nights with friends and really enjoyed ourselves, What a lovel lady Paola is, so helpfull and caring nothing to much trouble always got a smile on her face.

We had a great breakfast to set us up for the day all you could eat real coffee and lurpack butter yum yum.

The rooms were very clean, lovely fresh towels and bedding just what you need for a nice break. Well done Paola thanks for looking after us.

“Fantastic!”

Wot a place! Paola the owner is such a delight and so accommodating. We needed a change of time for our breakfast as we had an early start and she sorted it no problem. The location is great; nice and quiet with a short walk or bus ride into the city. Rooms were just what you need, clean and comfortable and the place has a really warm feeling to it. We will definately be back and we definately recommend it!!

“A bit shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

Our room at the Abbotsford Guest House was very small and the two twin beds were quite uncomfortable. We had a nice street view from the garrett window in our room but it let a great deal of light in at night which made it difficult to sleep. The breakfast was just average and the coffee was undrinkable. Some sort of margarine was served instead of butter.
