“Get real people...you get what you pay for.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011 via mobile

We had a one night stay here. It was exactly as I expected. I got the room for £19 and think I got great value for money. If it's a £45 rate I suggest looking at premier inn as the two brands are completely different and £50 premier inn would take me there instead.
The reception was very friendly and quick. The room was just fine. Paintwork was fresh and the carpet looked new. The bed was comfy and the linen was good and fresh. We slept really well. The bathroom is dated for sure and there us black mildew on the silicone and grout, but the shower had plenty of hot water at a decent flow which is what I am interested in.
As travelodge goes this is pretty typical. Don't pay for the Hilton and don't expect it either. We would stay here in the future.

“Dreadful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Stayed at this travelodge for four nights in August. Got a very cheap deal as it was booked well in advance.

Expected it to be similar to Premier Inn - what a shock, no comparison.

When we arrived the reception area looked very tired and grubby, the rooms were in the same condition. Opened the room door and immediately thought, this could do with a coat of paint and a good clean. The bathroom was disgusting. Black fungus embedded in the bathroom tiles. Back to reception to change rooms. Three rooms later we had a room that was slightly better, but far from satisfactory.

The receptionist came with a cloth and a spray bleach and attempted to remove the mould from the bathroom tiles - with little success. She was however, very apologetic.

We later discovered that the bedroom window although closed did not lock as the lock was broken away from the window frame.

In the evening we tried the adjoining little chef for a meal. We should have known on entering why the place was empty. The food was all microwave prepared and was dreadful. They do not have a drinks licence and there is no bar in the hotel. The filling station across the car park sells alcohol if you are desperate.

This hotel is situated on the very outskirts of Kilmarnock, across the main A77 dual carraigeway, and there is nowhere within walking distance to eat or drink. There is a retail park about half a mile across the dual carriageway intersection with the usual stores, B&Q, Homebase, Currys, and a large Asda supermarket.

If you want to find somewhere to eat or drink you will need to drive into the town well over a mile away.

Room Tip: I don't beleive there is a good room in the lodge.

“Two day stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Convenient position and easily located. Very clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff, who on noticing that my wife was limping enquired if we needed a ground floor room. This was not necessary but was a thoughtful offer. Located just outside Kilmarnock on the south side, with an on site Little Chef which we did not use as we were recommended to try the ASDA on the retail park close by for breakfast which was very good. Excellent value, no frills accommodation was just what we wanted.

Room Tip: Probably ask for a rear facing room as there is a BP forecourt to the front, but so is the car park...

“Just not good enough”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

The best thing about 2 nights here was the check in and friendliness of the evening staff. Granted the bed linen and towels were all clean - the floor in the bathroom and the carpets were in need of cleaning and hoovering. The whole place is very tired and needs an update, decorating and a lot of TLC. OK for 2 nights for us in an emergency as the Arran ferry was cancelled due to Hurricane Katia, but not for any longer. Wireless internet connection costs minimum £5 an hour REAL TIME, not time connected to server. And, they charge £20 for a dog. Our good kennels cost us £9.50 - including food! It is reasonable value for money, as long you don't expect too much.

“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We booked this hotel as cheap accomodation prior to a wedding. The lodge isnt situated in the most picturesque of locations but it is easily accessible. The room was clean but had a tired feel to it. We stayed for 4 nights and had a good nights sleep without any disturbances every night. The staff were friendly enough and overall we felt that the lodge represented good value for money. We would recommend Asda for breakfast as its nearby and cheap.
