Stayed at this travelodge for four nights in August. Got a very cheap deal as it was booked well in advance.
Expected it to be similar to Premier Inn - what a shock, no comparison.
When we arrived the reception area looked very tired and grubby, the rooms were in the same condition. Opened the room door and immediately thought, this could do with a coat of paint and a good clean. The bathroom was disgusting. Black fungus embedded in the bathroom tiles. Back to reception to change rooms. Three rooms later we had a room that was slightly better, but far from satisfactory.
The receptionist came with a cloth and a spray bleach and attempted to remove the mould from the bathroom tiles - with little success. She was however, very apologetic.
We later discovered that the bedroom window although closed did not lock as the lock was broken away from the window frame.
In the evening we tried the adjoining little chef for a meal. We should have known on entering why the place was empty. The food was all microwave prepared and was dreadful. They do not have a drinks licence and there is no bar in the hotel. The filling station across the car park sells alcohol if you are desperate.
This hotel is situated on the very outskirts of Kilmarnock, across the main A77 dual carraigeway, and there is nowhere within walking distance to eat or drink. There is a retail park about half a mile across the dual carriageway intersection with the usual stores, B&Q, Homebase, Currys, and a large Asda supermarket.
If you want to find somewhere to eat or drink you will need to drive into the town well over a mile away.
Room Tip: I don't beleive there is a good room in the lodge.
