“An absolute gem.”

I recently spent four nights at the Aberlaw. I was made to feel very welcome from the moment I walked in the door. Though I had booked a single room I was offered the family room as this was available. And what a marvellous room it was! Super- comfortable bed with quality bedding, beautifully furnished, with a lovely sitting area, good sized en-suite shower room and free wifi. The breakfast room was every bit as good – crisp, white tablecloths, quality china. The food was cooked to order, plentiful – much more than I could eat – and delicious. The whole house was immaculate and spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner, Linda, who was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the area. Despite the fact that my visit was due to bereavement, I had a wonderful time. Would I recommend the Aberlaw? Yes. Would I recommend the Aberlaw to my best friend? Oh yes!

“Aberlaw Guesthouse ROCKS!”

Aberlaw Guesthouse en-suite rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable. We stayed only a night on our stopover from Inverness to Edinburgh. There is no reason to doubt the Aberlaw room and service quality. Linda is a warm and great host which made our stay more at home. Thank you so much for the great Scottish hospitality.

“Friendly, clean and close to city centre”

I was a young woman travelling alone and never have I felt more safe and welcome. I was advised on the best ways to travel to and from the city centre and other surrounding areas which was extremely useful as I had never visited the area before and my map reading skills are more than a little dubious! The bedroom was spotless, as was the bathroom, and the breakfast was wonderful. The guest house is close to the city centre as well as only a short bus ride away from great tourist destinations such as St. Andrews and Broughty Ferry. I would certainly recommend this guest house if you want somewhere with a warm and friendly atmosphere. If I return to Dundee, I will be back!

Quite near the city centre and not difficult to find.
Rooms are very clean and furnished with style.
Excellent and plentiful breakfast.
It is possible to park behind the house.
Linda was very very helpful and courteous, she explained us
where we could go to have dinner and what we could visit.

“Friendly and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We came up at short notice and were very grateful to find a room near to Carnoustie. On arrival it was wet outside and the owner asked us to cover our shoes- a good sign that the house was to be clean. In fact, the rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable. Linda was exceptionally chatty and always available with advice. We heard the noise from the road in our room so moved upstairs the second night which didn't really help but was appeciated.
The rooms themselves were difficult to move around in and didn't feel spacious. The bathrooms were clean but not in the luxuary catagory. There were no extra touches other than tea and coffee. We have stayed in many guest houses where there were more little extras. All in all not a bad experience but nothing we could really rave about.
We did feel £80 a night was expensive.
