Last night, friday the 16th December 2011 saw seventeen of us going to The Craigtay Hotel for what, was meant to be a fantastic party night. When we arrived it was just like going to The Hubbara(former name)in the seventies. Decor appears to be the same,as it was back then. The room resembled something out of the North Pole. Absolutely freezing. People all over the function suite were sitting with their coats on,teeth chattering. The meal was okay. Brussel sprouts must have been scarce that night as there were only two on the plate. The dance floor had holes in it. Peoples heels were going through them all night. After the meal the two tables that were at the left of us put on their coats and dissappeared. Obviously, they'd had enough then. The disco eventually (after much anticipation) began. Wehey we thought, but sadly, the music the two dj's or youngsters were playing would have suited teenyboppers. Given, that the average age was roughly fortyish, the dj's should have been playing older music. Playing for the audience I would have thought. When I complained to them to be fair, they did change the music before reverting back to the type of music that made us middle agers look like we were resembling something out of a breakdance, either that or suffering from convulsions. I went to use the disabled toilet and on trying to enter the toilet, found I couldn't get the toilet door opened. When asking the barmaid if there was a key to open it,she looked at me as if I was stupid. She slid the door along, therefore opening it. SILLY ME. When I asked her how the door locked, again she looked at me as if I had just emerged from an asylum. "Oh" she said, in dismay"It doesn't lock". Oh well then SILLY ME AGAIN. At that point, there were seventeen of us at our table and about ten people at the table to our right hand side. Twenty seven people for a party night and, that was at 9.30pm. I suffered it until roughly 11pm and that was when myself and a friend decided to leave. The poor substitutes for disc jockeys announced "Lets have a party game". An hour left an that was the first game of the night. What a shame that I was going away to miss all the fun and hilarity.Won't be back.Shocking,to say the least. I can only describe this event as sub temperature drivel. Instead of everyone paying £27.50 for an uneventful evening, I think the proprietors should have been paying us for the pain and suffering we endured last nght.
