On our arrival we were greeted as if old friends returning - no formality but genuine warmth. Shown round the beautifully appointed rooms in the house and then taken to our room which was superb with views over the rooftops to the hills beyond.
We were then invited to the lounge for afternoon tea and cake beside the cosy fire. It was indeed a most welcome after the journey.
Dinner was provided in the B&B, which is not common these days, and was superb and worth every penny of the £26. Since there is no licence to sell alcohol, we were encouraged to bring wine to have with the meal, if we so wished.
After a most comfortable sleep, breakfast was another culinary treat, with home-made bread on the menu. Nothing was a problem and we were again encouraged to ask for more.
In our alas to short a stay, it seemed to us that the couple run the B&B along the lines of welcoming and entertaining friends in their home.
This was our first stay at Gladstone House but hopefully it won't be our last.
