“Father and Sons weekend away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

What a great weekend all my expectations fulfilled. Sue and Simon are great hosts, the food is excellent either local produce or home grown, cooked and prepared fresh. Sue is an advanced fly fishing instructor and that was my main purpose for being there. The 4 nights spent there with my two adult sons was to teach them to fly fish and fix my bad habits ( fly fishing that is) and Sue was just great, highly recommend it. Simon bakes his own bread and very tasty it is too. Would I go back of course I would.

Room Tip: book early

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

stayed for 3 nights and also enjoyed great and patient fly-fishing instruction with sue. food was really good and nice prepared cooked and served lots of local ingredients and home jams etc. great spot to drift down to kirkcudbright and local coastlines.
room was lovely and spacious clean - everything you could want - top class b&b
think the owners should be proud of attention to detail and professionalism of it.
i would recommend trying some fly- fishing for half a day with sue as lots of lovely rivers and lakes to fish

“Could not be improved upon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

We received a very warm welcome with afternoon tea & cakes provided. Our bedroom and ensuite were about the largest & best equipped that we have ever come across in a B&B. There is an excellent sitting/dining room for guests sole use with TV books & magazines to hand. Excellent breakfast menu choices are provided & you must try at least one evening meal (we took 3 out of 4 evenings ) again you are consulted on your choice over breakfast ; professional standard cuisine.Easy drive to town from Twynholm.

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

Pleasant hosts, comfortable en-suite room with plenty of space. Food excellent. I enjoyed both dinner on the night I arrived and breakfast the following morning.

I had booked fly-fishing lessons from Sue (who is a qualified instructor), which I can also recommend highly, so it made sense to stay with them as well. I would stay there again, even without going for the fishing instruction.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments, we are always really happy to have fishing people here to stay as well as artists, musicians and those interested in organic gardening. Our fishing and spinning courses have been very well received.

You would be most welcome back anytime, perhaps next time your wife will join you.

“A very hospitable B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

We came for the fishing and for tuition by Sue. There were no disappointments, and we shall return for more of the same next year. Sue and Simon are very welcoming, the accommodation is very comfortable, and the culinary skills most tempting. Sue is an absolutely excellent fly-fishing tutor, and we had two splendid days on loch and river with her. Linthorpe is also well-placed for exploration of Dumfries and Galloway, so we can only make completely positive noises! Go and see for yourselves, and go for longer than the three nights which we stayed!
