The White Hart in Dumfries was chosen as our base camp for the `we should be fitter than this to go cycling` tour 2007. What a great find the White Hart turned out to be, recently refurbished it had the essentials for cyclists, bike storage, good size clean rooms and large en suite with a proper power shower. Breakfast is served up by owner Suzanne and was delicous, just what you need before doing a few miles in the forest. The really nice thing about the White Hart is how welcome you feel, the barstaff Kenny and `Amish` were hilarious and helpful, all that cycling can make a man tired, tired enough to fall asleep on the pool table, its ok Kenny will help you to your room. All in all, anyone wanting a base to go cycling or walking in the Dumfries area should check out and check in to the White Hart. We`ll certainly be booking rooms the next time we are reinacting the tour de france in the south west of Scotland.
